Race Retro Stoneleigh 2015

I've tried searching and can't find any threads so here goes:

Who's coming to Race Retro on 20/21/22_February? Its half term so there will be quiet roads at "drive time", perfect for exercising your thoroughbred.

I'm there in the Outer Darkness as usual, in the Bermuda Triangle formed by the Tunnel to Civilisation, the Frozen North and the bar. Quite where I can't describe but follow the smell of our home-cooked biscuits and you won't go wrong.

Who's planning on going? It would be handy to know so Mrs MM can estimate the tonnage of comestibles required.

If you do go to Stoneleigh please take time to come and see us. It can get very lonely away from the shiny part of the show, and a chap can feel forgotten. There's lots of hidden gems besides me and The Outer Darkness is surprisingly welcoming - not least the excellent Fire Engine Bar. (Having sung its praises I hope it's there this year!)

See you there?

I am there on Friday and Saturday with some time on the MGCC stand. I did think though that exhibits were a bit thinner last year - or at least more spaced out and the outer autojumble (in the chiller) was much smaller than in the past with certain folk I wanted to see missing. Let's hope it does not go the same way as Autosport though.
This year they've got Ari Vatanen as the star guest so he should pull in more punters.

Hampton Caught should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'm at Race Retro on Sunday but my display of rallycross models will be there from Thursday night onwards. As with last year, the display will be near the Group B club.

Do pop over and have a gape. Some of the models I've built especially for the event, including the first works 4x4 Mini Clubman built in 1971 and driven by Brian Culcheth.

I have Will Gollop's 6R4s in all their guises, three Steve Palmer 6R4s, a number of Irish and Eurpopean rallycross cars from the late80s/ early 90s and three cars currently competing in the Ripla Retro Rallycross Challenge: the Mk3 Escort of Ray Morgan, Barry Stewart's Porsche Turbo and Rob Gibson's MG Metro 6R4.

Hope to see some of you on the Sunday. Cheers, Steve

Nice one Claire!

Have always enjoyed the social side of RR, but apart from that (and chance of home-made bickies.....) have no need to go this year. Will see how things are progressing at base camp nearer the time.

I'll be there, just not sure which day. It would be nice to take Friday off, but having put all my race dates in the office diary I might have to trim back a bit!

Normally at Race Retro I have the Hedtec range and they've got a great carbon FIA/HANS example which I want to showcase. So in answer to Simon's question no I won't have a comprehensive range of different brands on display.

Judith Chalmers does have a passport but if you're looking for the mainstream brands then Silverstone should be your destination. Or the DT stand at the show...and if ypu choose a Bell ping me a message and see if I can beat their prices! Tweet me @maxattaq and use hash tag greatprices

To be fair, Simon asked if you have a " comprehensive stock at great prices", not "a comprehensive range", so I suggest that the answer is "yes"!

I'll have a comprehensive stock of own-brand biscuits :-)

And a never ending supply of bonnhomie :-)

But only a limited range of helmets to try on.

We (as 360MRC) won't be there as an exhibitor this year. Claire and I did a careful cost/benefit analysis and regrettably came to the conclusion that we could no longer justify the expense.
Perhaps this will cause rumours of our decline but nothing is further from the truth. Our tie in, as the organising club, with the new Endurance Racing Series, means that 360MRC will be busier than ever in 2015 and our traditional 6 hour race will be at Snetterton on Saturday 4th July - a visit to our website will give details of this and of our other meetings this year. We still have the enormous benefit of the support (big thanks to Grant and Terri) both of this site and of Radio Le Mans.
Hope you all enjoy the show which is still the best in the UK.

Out of interest, could you give us in percentage terms what the difference in fees would be between exhibiting there and at the NEC for instance?
