I am amazed that people on here think a professional touring car category can carry on indefinitely racing body shapes and models no longer on the market. While they might buy themselves an extra year(or 2 at the outside) there is no long term future in racing Falcons or other models off the market.
V8SA are In a terrible situation with manufacturers outside GMH either explicitly saying they do not want to be represented in the category or in the case of Nissan and Volvo eyeing the exit door.
I doubt there is any replacement imported category that will appeal to much of the V8 heartland.

Thank you. I thought that was the case but wasn't certain.

Or from GRM?

Or are these kinds of things irrelevant too?

Didn't you tell us not worry about press releases or newspaper quotes GTR? You know, to focus on what was happening in the real world, where real stuff happens..???

Which way is the wind blowing today?

GRM and Volvo have not done themselves any favours by only presenting one decent steerer each year.

If they'd run two top guns, their results would speak for themselves. Surely a back-ended outlay for a second top driver would have put this team in a regular front running position.

Anytime Scotty Mac hit trouble, it was all over for GRM for the weekend.

So disappointed to see such an investment and cost structure solely relying on the performance of one car/driver.

Dahlgren was there at the behest of Volvo/Polestar and David Wall came with the Wilson Security and Pacye sponsorship, bit hard to say no to those footing the bills.

Hence the team had only half the success (and positive exposure) it could have had.

GRM went out there with one hand tied behind its back...a pity when you have a race winning package.

The "relevance" issues can be easily sorted, so long as the new car sales enquiries off the back of the sponsorship remain strong.

As far as I can see, looking at it by and large, taking one thing with another in terms of the street view, then in the final analysis it is probably true to say, that at the end of the day, in general terms, you would probably find that, not to put too fine a point on it, there probably isn't very much in it one way or the other as far as one can see, at this stage, so they will probably prove to be irrelevant.

Yeah, and their constant reliability woes were their own doing, simply not good enough at this level. Hopefully they perform well this year and are on top of said woes.

Like they knew that the alternator would crumble internally due to the vibrations of the narrow angle V8 motor, resulting in them having to buy a $3500 one to solve the issue....

You can model and use all the previous data you want, but with any new package, you'll find things you didn't expect.

Yet it happened only in year 2 and not really in year 1....

Slight correction Matt, they didn't build 500 Homologation cars and then take off the homologation parts, the cars were delivered to the dealers with the homologated parts in the trunk, and that is why the FIA were forced to re-inistate the 240T's homologation [after it was successfully protested by Tom Walkinshaw] because the homologation rule never specified that the evolution parts had to be fitted!

Yeah, between that post and now there was a big to-do on the Turbobricks forum about it, haha.

The biggest issue I think, which is discussed on Turbobricks also, that out of the 500 cars barely any 2 are actually the same...

Alfa pulled a similiar move in the 1994 BTCC to get the Alfa Romeo 155 "Silverstone" edition homologated, it was delivered with the bigger front splitters and rear wings in the boot.
