Muller increase lead

Muller has increased his championship lead without even getting in the car. Apparantly TOCA had a bit of a computer up at Brands and got the championship points wrong. Muller should have got 14 points for the firt race at Brands not 13, Thompson should have got 6 not 7. No one else was effected.

Revised points are:
Muller 184
Thompson 157
O'Neill 119
Neal 114
Reid 103
Morrison 99

The Darkness should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

even one counts!

so Muller has a 17 point lead?
I have to admit Muller would have to have problems to let Tommo catch him. Muller just has to finish on the poduim for the last few races (1st, 2nd and 3rds) and the title is his...but then, this is motor-racing and you would have to be a muppet and say Tommo hasnt got a chance in hell because he has.

Maximum of 33 points available per meeting - 15 per win, two fastest laps, and a pole position for race one (race two, as you know, is determined by finish position of race one)

So, if he has a 27 point lead, I *think* he can tie things up by scoring max points and Thompson scoring none - unlikely that! I'm sure someone will correct my math though?

Ah so he needs 7 points more than Thommo for the title, may have to wait until race 2 to wrap it up!

I've had too many beers and my head hurts.

He needs to end up with 34 clear points more than Thompson, going into the last race.

If Muller wins both, sets two fastest laps AND scores a pole then he will have 217 points at the end of the meeting. Thompson needs to end the meeting with 184 points or more to extend the fight to the next round. If he scores two second places, behind Muller, then there he will end up with 181.

Therefore my math is incorrect!

And, as you say, he only needs to take 7 more points - that's the easiest way of saying it!

Isn't there an additional point for leading a lap of a race though?

The maximum for a meeting is 35 - 18 for the first race, 17 for the second. Each win gets you 15, leading the race gets you one, fastest lap gets you one and you also score a bonus point for qualifying on pole for the first race. Thus Muller needs a lead greater than 35 points when he leaves Donington to be champion.

So needs to outscore Thommo by 9 points instead of 7.

Thanks for that.
