Bit early innit!! The winter series isn't over yet.
Anyway I would say Steven Kane is worth a wager (if hes in it). |

oh yeah right. the only way he can win is if he gets hold of his old dodgy motor from the junior series! But then again, the works van diemen team seem good at that anyway! He's bound to feel right at home!!

Totally agree with you "old skool". Kane definatly had a bent motor in the junior fords as he is getting blown away by lads he has beaton all year and now he is in a works car. My money would be on Jan Haylan to win if he does another year.

Jan Haylen will be the man to beat!
I think I'd take the focus off of the Engine of Kayne and his Mackie car. Solus supplies fair engine service, no doubt. They seal their engines before teams get a hold of them anyway. And with a spec ECU controlled by Ford and downloaded after each race it's hard to get a grip on cheating from that side... Fuel though, that's a different subject! ...hint, hint. It seems like the field will really have a decrese in talent for 02' after such a strong field this year! |

Till I have some idea of who is going to be racing, I think I'll keep my powder dry.

Works Van Diemens? Solus? Bent? Never ...
And with absolutely zilch Ford technical input in 2002 (or so it seems) how is it going to be properly policed? |

I can definetly say that Kane's engine wasn't bent this year, after running alongside him all year (in the team that is, not on the track).
I think the main reason he is struggling with the works VD is that it is a very different car to drive to a Mygale. He also has lots of advice being thrown at him from every corner, so it may take him a while to find his feet again. Sort of what happened to Gaymor this year. |

Welcome to the board by the way Jmt! I'm the guy from MDR that you almost ran over at Snett in August, I kinda didn't look before I jaunted to the pit wall, only just managed to avoid getting stuck under your Mygale...
As Jmt says, I don't think Kane's Mygale was bent at all during the Junior series this year. I just think he was on top of his game this season with good car underneath him. His drive at Snett in the rain was pretty awesome from where I was standing. Whenever I walked past the Mackie awning this year Kane always seemed to be working on his own car and helping his mechanics out, commitment indeed. After the recent winter series rounds I think Mike Conway has got a good chance of winning a bunch of races next year, his pace in the winter series has been pretty hot. I have only been working at Donington last weekend due to Uni commitments, but from looking at the results at Silverstone and Snett it looks like he is on top of things (obviously I'm biased as I know Mike after working with him but hey!). I think Kane is taking a bit of time getting used to the Van Diemen, Mike has had the legs on him in qualifying so far but I think time will tell. Gaymor is obviously quick (Thanks for taken Ben Clucas out on the last lap btw, appreciated that one ) and it depends who else is at Haywoods for next year. Murray racing seemed to be still carrying on the results of Aztec, so it will be interesting to see if they can keep at the front with the new Mygale. Anyway, there's my thoughts, good luck at Brands Jwt. Andy |

Who ever has number 1 on his car will be difficult to beat, but I would not rule out 2,3,or 4 either.

If that driver line up is correct, I would expect Heylen and Barber to be fighting for the championship, with the younger, less experiences pair(Hall & Conway) improving through the season.
It looks a strong team, and develops 2 drivers for 2003. |

If Barber is in a works Van D car next year , he really needs to do something special in it , and get himself moving up a ladder a bit to higher formula's.....another average year in formula ford wouldnt to his future any good at all..He needs to get the Championship by next year for sure !

Would it even be enough to restart his career if he won every race? He seems to be digging his own hole

Carefull eveyone I can promise you that our cars are definatly not bent. Our cars are extremly good cars but only for a clever driver, they are not easy to drive we have been told it is completly different to all other cars in the series. Our results prove this as well, Mark Taylor and Steven Kane are dedicated and talented but most of all they are clever they give great feedback and at the same time take in everything they are told. As you can see from our senior results this year erm I ll let you make your own conclusions about this years drivers hummmm (luke hines).
AS for next year Steven with us(champion) steven with VD(possible champion), not dissing VD just it would be more political for him to win mostly though look out for Darwin Smith in Juniors he is very similar to Steven except he is only 17, If I was a millionaire wanting to sponsor someone I would take him right to the top (hint hint to any millionaires out there) |

I think you might be left with only one of the above threebecause one, possibly two, could still go to renault. kane driving for works vand diemens - don't believe everything you read in the press ...

I think Heylan must be in with a shout ,but i think that Kane could do it now that he's got the momentum going his way. ( if he keeps the right drive ..ie Mackmot ?? wot do you think ??
