SBR in 2009....

Most of the motorsport and general press seem to think that Mr Courtney is not returning to SBR in 2009... while some even suggest that the JeldWen/Stegbar/Corinthian branding shall be off with Mr Courtney to another blue team.

If this is the case, what does the line up look like in season 2009?

From this vantage point it is difficult to conclude that the sponsorship on the #9 car is contributing as much income on a single car basis as say a Team Vodafone backing.... given the size of that business enterprise, as well as the products and markets it exists in. An assumption of course, but more likely than not.

Stressful too is the noise around the Ford millions, and the alleged involvement in a Ford Dealer Team... with the aforementioned driver, allegedly of course, presumably with the backing of the driver's 2008 brands. If the story in AA is to be believed then SBR, along with DJR & Britek are said to be faced with a reduction in factory support in their contract renewals at seasons' end.

Although SBRE was reported to be involved in the development of the FG Falcon, to do with engine packaging under the bonnet.... presumably on behalf of themselves and 888... but perhaps as a supplier to FPR as well... and/or maybe others in the main game too... allegedly...

So if the brand name driver is wandering away, however allegedly, with the alleged main sponsor's cash.. and the second car's backing isnt quite as strong as it could be.... while the motor manufacturer is alleged not to feel the same love towards the most recent Ford championship winning team....

And is it significant that the commercial manager for the squad has recently allegedly left the SBR organisation... just when the need to find the appropriate level of funding is at its most pressing. Allegedly of course.

.... what is the likely outcome?

Is there another major sponsor on the horizon? Will the tie up with TKR as a customer car run by the Gillon consortium ever come good? Allegedly. Is Mr Webb now ready to make the step up to the big time. Allegedly....

It would be a shame to see this team under these kinds of pressures... but $6m backers just dont fall out of the trees.... allegedly

considering this team and Marcos put Ford back on the map it does seem a little unfair the are being snubbed, i think one S.Owen would be a good replacement for Courtney but i would much rather see Steve in a Holden..

Marcus could always come back. (wishful thinking) Or maybe Bright could pack up his team and reunite with the Stones.

I'd probably pick Canto to be honest.

BlueBlood.........Exactly......The only reason Steve Owen is not in the main game.......Where he belongs IMO.......Is a complete lack of money.

SBR already have their new star......Very young and at low cost......The fact is that all teams need money and lots of it......Which is why Johnathon Webb is the most likely choice.

Owen, Canto, Youlden and Macrow would probably be top of the list in the talent in bundles but a bank balance of the total opposite.

I'd love to see Canto at SBR.
Alternatively, I could live with Coulthard going there and Dean reuniting with Leigh Geyer at PCR - he was his engineer at DJR when Dean won his HPDC Series crown.

When does Paul Dumbrell's and Autobarn's contract end with the HSV Dealer Team? Could we see either one or both with the Stones?

Or maybe he could sign a contract, not turn up, and pay for the #9 car again?

why not do a Tasman and sell signage on your car to the highest bidder for that round either as a tittle sponser or like Tasman do now the rear quarters, each side of the front spliter and the rear bar.

Who is to say FPR will expand to 4 cars, the motor industry is not what you would call in good shape unless you are Toyota. Courtney and Richards may swap teams, that could be a better fit for everybody.

The loss of BL may not be that bad some may say not a loss, its not like SBR are fighting off big sponser deals.

Personally I like to see the rat in the car then it would be an all kiwi team again....... But if it had to be an aussie I'd like to see either Owen or Canto.

Nomad, there's probably sufficient teams in the series already practicing blatant discrimination.

Owen would be a good choice.
