Ed G should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Who is Jaguar's backup Driver?

Does anyone know who Jaguar have as a backup driver. In case Irve (or PDLR) has a incident in Practice and is forced to miss the GP ala HHF?

Since they sacked Tomas Scheckter they don't (AFAIK) have an official third driver but I think Andre Lotterer would probably get the seat as he recently did a fair bit of testing with the team.

Probaly it is either James Courtney or Andre Lotterer. If Irvine or Pedro gets injured, they could always chose a F3000 driver, maybe Justin Wilson.

Now, the "backup drivers" of Jaguar are Andre Lotterer and later Narain Karthikeyan. Courtney and the others stands behind these two drivers.

The rules of F3000 state that no driver may participate in both the F3000 race and the F1 race at the same meeting. With the championship so close I doubt any of the top 3 would consider a one-off F1 drive as it would effectively end their championship challenge.

botsquad has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
monza test: from itv

For the second day running, Sauber’s Nick Heidfeld was second quickest, ahead of Mika Hakkinen. But perhaps the star of the show was Jaguar stand-in Andre Lotterer. The young German was fifth, only one second off the pace of Coulthard and ahead of first-choice driver Pedro de la Rosa.

James Courtney will be testing the Jag R3 on July 17 at Monza. Not bad for his first season in wings and slicks. Good luck James.

As Narain Whatsisname and Andre Lotterer have done such little testing, I reckon they'd ask to borrow a test driver from another team. Either that, or Gaston may get a call up.

Gaston Mazzacane is now without a drive, he only made an appearance in Olavarria but he won't said much about his outing of F1.
