H16 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I just an FIA World Sports car race...

Ferraris finished one and two while the Dome Judd finished third at Spa. There were other cars like the Riley & Scott MK 3 and the Ascari, with an SRP II class as well.

Not exactly the most advanced form of racing on the planet. Does the FIA ban factory teams or discourage them (ala Grand Am) or is it that not factory is interested?

Anyone else watch these races?

Judd must be making some money off it...

ive watched the first three races so far. of course this has all happened in the past. i wish somehow thast funds were made available to FIA teams to come over to this side of the pond so we can see them race here not just once a year at lm.

on another note id like to see more of pescarolo sport in 02, such a great looking car the c60 is.

Factory teams are "not encouraged" to take part. They don't ban specific teams, no. There is a price cap for cars. LMP675 cars will be eligible to take part next year (and there is a rumour of at least 1 LMP900 taking part as well).

I watched this too, as I am having withdrawal with no racing to watch, and I recognized some of the cars from Le Mans. It seemed to me as if they were very slow.

Yes, and one of the things that struck me is that they considered the Ascari as state of the art machine. Mind you, the Ascari didn't exactly cover itself in glory at Le Mans and is really just a throughly redone Group C T92 Lola from 1992.

Isn't it almost a defining quality of sportscars that they are either new and very expensive or the umpteenth development of something old??

I don't know about that. The grill gives it away. Have you seen the T92? Sharp black looking car, looked much better with a roof.

Or sharp white looking car, in the case of the McNeill Engineering chassis. McNeill also did the initial development of the A410, and "borrowed" some aerodynamics ideas from the Lola. They still run the Lola today in the Interseries, btw. But underneath the Lola-esque body (that's just about the only similarity btw) the cars are different.

The A410 is not a top-chop Lola.

Anyway, the FIASCC is doing what GrandAm is doing - keeping the high-tech, high-cost works cars out. They are gradually loosening things up however - Pescarolo, Den Bla Avis and Racing for Holland were entrants this year, and Johansson is thinking about doing ome races next year with the Gulf R8. I expect to see one or two good cars in the 675 class as well (which will be a part of SR1).

And hey, you have to take what you can get - compared to the ELMS prototype field, this is a class act!
