HRC sacks Doohan!

Crash.net is reporting that HRC have not renewed Doohan's Management role for 2005!

I wonder what Mick did wrong? Could he be being blamed for Honda's inability to keep Rossi and/or win the title in 2004 against the inferior Yamaha package??

Think from what the press release says the team are trying to do a Rossi at Yamaha and focus completely on Max. Mick was none to keen on Max and with Erv coming in anyway Mick's role as some sort of rider liasion chappie is kind of gone.
Plus all of Micks old links with the team are gone too with most of the mechanics gone to Yamaha with Burgess.
I dont really know how much of an impact Mick had on the day to day running of HRC or of the honda teams at the races but they obviously dont need that kind of support any more and maybe he is a scape goat.
Surprising really as he just seemed to be a figurehead rolled out on specal occasionto make HRC look good
seems weird doesnt it

EGG has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
according to superbikeplanet.com, most of the HRC people have been given a nudge out the door recently. Hayden's entire pit crew as well I think...

They do seem to be using Mick as an 'escape goat', which is quite unfair considering everythign he did for them.

Have read some reports that Mick was axed because he continually went on about how good Vale was and that no one could get that close to him, just Mick being a typically tough Aussie and speaking his mind as he did when he rode there.
If that is the case then I think HRC are guilty of some serious corporate bull. Here is a man who put his life on the line for his team and won them more silverware than anyone did and he didn't desert them to ride elsewhere, loyalty or what!
He got his leg fixed in 93/4 so he could ride the bike better, not so he could walk better or live easier! When he retired he had more surgery to make his ankle and leg esier to walk on, that is commitment and they deserve never to win titles again if they treat their ex champions this way!
