JRX FIA European Rallycross Cup

A new Junior Rallycross concept aimed at the European Rallycross Championship has been launched today. Publicly unveiled at a presentation on the closing morning of the annual FIA Off-Road prize-giving, held at Riga in Latvia this year, the proposed class is aimed at 14-18-year-olds and is based on a one-make spaceframe racecar with tightly controlled technical specifications and high safety standards.

Nice idea. A lot will depend on costs. Isn't AWD overdone?
In contrast to RX150 and RST these cars look more like rallycross cars.

From a Dutch magazine I understand these cars cost around €40k...not what I call junior rallycross for 14-18y olds.

Rubbish Idea waste of time!
As a young Junior Rallycrosser mentioned, it's not about your talent it's who's got the fattest wallet? Will probably be full of youngsters who fathers currently on the Erc trail. Why start a catergory for juniors in four wheel drive glorified karts with bodywork on, should start with the basics like the Swifts and other junior catergorys at least that would let those with a bit of talent have a go in Europe if they so wish in a car that they know.
Money and promotion could of been spent elsewhere in 2012 ie making the Erc the place to be? This must be the how the organiser think this will make the Erc more appealing to the regulars and stay in Europe and not go to the GRC! Introduce a new catergory!

I don't know why they don't just start with a very cheap production car like the Panda, have sealed engines and a standard safety kit. You'd then have a car for not much more than 12,000 euros and plenty of takers...

Pretty simple answer: There is a company running the series that wants to earn money.
