Mystery Avon Slicks

Has anyone had experience with Avon radial slicks specification numbers 8776 on front and 8777 on rear of F3 cars? Sizes are 180/550R13 and 250/570R13. I have performed extensive research on the web and consulted local Avon Dealer with no luck. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Listed as control tyres in an old set of 2001 UK National F3 regulations. Not sure how many years they were used for but 2005 and later tyres are different. Spec for this series seems to change every 2-3 years. I know of at lease 3 different sets of numbers for 2001 - thro -2008. Mybe they don't change the specification, just the number to keep track of who is using how many sets - don't know.

I bought a new old stock set of 8776/8777 cheap. They would have been at least 4 years old by the time I got them on my car (Mono 2000 Ralt - similar weight and BHP to F3). They were hopeless.

Shomosport, Thank you for your reply. Sorry for the late response I have been away from PC for a few weeks. My interest stems from the fact that I recieved a set with a recent Reynard purchase. They still have the pips on them and I thought that I might be able to use them. While they seem to be a medium compound by the thumb nail test my concern is that they seem to be a ' dry ' sort of compound, if you know what I mean. Many thanks for your reply. I think that I may invest in some new ones after I wear out the Dunlops which are in good shape.
