He'll get a win before the season is out and it will boost his morale. No worries.

Following on from my post in the 2018 thread just now...

Simpson and Plato (funded by Simpson A'la Scott) to join forces for next year!

Haven't lost hope of that happening but some doubt is creeping in...

He's got to learn to look after the tyres; that I think is his only current issue - I reckon he's adapted well otherwise.

There are others, more experienced - Sonic! - who are also not managing tyres well enough though, so he isn't alone.

Both these two will get it together and win before end of year I reckon.

Speaking of winners, I make it 19 BTCC race winners out of the 31 at Rockingham.

Will be at least 20 by Silverstone if Rob Collard is back.

Pretty impressive!

Chilton has never been able to look after his tyres though.

I think once Cammish figures the tyres and FWD racing out, he'll rack up quite a few wins. It's just a case of getting that first one.

Technical regs are designed to make the cars as even as possible - lots of common parts, performance balanced aero, performance balanced (largely common) engines. Sporting regs are designed to give everyone a chance - success ballast, random draw reverse grid, option tyres.

Having lots of different winners shouldn't be proclaimed as if it's something amazing; it's the series doing exactly what the series is set out to do.

Can I put an early vote in for Jordan at Dynamics next year. Jordan's have signed Pirtek as sponsor in the BTCC but not tied to a team and by now after a season and a half, they might reckon that AJ is not going to beat Turkington in a WSR BMW over a season and cast their eye elsewhere. The Jordan's got on well with Dynamics when they ran customer Civics and Andy really gelled with that car. I know it is a different beast now, but I think it could be a possibility.

Andrew hasnt seemed at home at any team since the family sold Eurotech to the Smiths, could be a good shout there

I suppose that would be a good call in the long run, especially when/if Neal retires.

Jordan's issue is his sponsor's requirement to run in full Pirtek livery.
If he went to Dyamics it would mean either 1x Honda/Halfords and 1x Pirtek, or 2x Honda/Halfords and 1x Pirtek as a third entry. I can't see either of those being likely.

well it beats the problem most drivers have, the lack of a potent sponsor...

The Civic FK8 would look every bit as wicked livery-wise though...

I know and with regards to Jordan joining Team Dynamics, I agree with you, interesting idea but unlikely.

What though if AJ bought a TBL, say from TG; acquired a motor car/ had one built; and got that nice Mr Smith to run it.

That would work.

Do we know if Cammish is bringing as much budget as Sheds did?

Though I think they have some Shedden sponsors on the car/helmets.

an entrants name isn’t actually a team.
to have a TBL they would have to be a proper working racing team

They now have Jordan Racing Team for their historic stuff and I imagine the Pirtek sponsorship is managed through that as well, so they would be OK on that front.

Interestingly, Autosport's article on Matt Simpson states:

"He raced alongside Speedworks Motorsport in his maiden BTCC season in 2016 before allying himself with Team Dynamics for the '17 campaign, and owns the TOCA BTCC Licence (TBL) for his entry."

which implies HE owns his TBL not Simpson Racing and gets it aligned to teams
