2005 F1 Dvd
Has anyone bought this yet? Does it have enough "unseen footage" to make it worthwhile? Any other thoughts on it? I've never bought a season review before but thought I might add it to my christmas list.
Whilst on the subject of DVDs, Amazon has very mixed reviews of "In-car 956", what do the folks here think of it? |

I have the 2005 F1 DVD. I can't tell you what is unseen footage because I can't remember what I have seen and what I haven't. Each race weekend is covered in enough detail and for each circuit, a driver describes a qualifying/practice lap they did. I haven't watched that yet as I haven;t had time, but I'd say if you are an F1 fan you should buy it, and other review DVDs/videos.

It is average really. No better or worse than previous years.
Sadly, the onboard laps are badly chosen. Rather than cover the pole lap or most spectacular lap, you end up, for example, onboard with DC at Silverstone. Dull. On the subject of DC's onboard lap, I wish he'd get his corner names correct. |

I think it would have been better if the pole driver described the lap, but I reckon Alonso and Raikkonen may have got fed up of narrating! Speaking of that, Kimi doesn't describe any of his laps, which is a shame because I would have liked to see an onboard of his Monza lap. Even though he moved down 10 places.
The DVD doesn't really excel itself, but it does a decent job in describing the season's main events. |

Yes, I too wanted the Monza lap of Kimi.
Instead we got Vitantonio Liuzzi trundling round on a Friday lap saying "living on the edge" multiple times. |

And Scott Speed describing an Indy lap. When he turned into the first corner, I just thought 'How slow was this lap?'. I didn't really expect every pole lap to be shown though.

If it's as bad as lasts year's then looks like I'll have to give it a miss. I've found ever since they have moved to DVDs they suck.

That's not necessarily the case.
The problem with the DVD's is they are just the video on a disc, except with a quali lap for each race. So on that basis they are actually better. But they could be so much more, which is the real issue here. |

"In-Car 956" is a must-see. All of it is good but the best bits are undoubtedly the Nurburgring and especially Le Mans.
