Wow...this hurts me (track proposal hearing notes)

I was looking up the proposed track Dragonsridge in VA and stumbled across a minutes from a town meeting...here is the link and some very disturbring exerpts...

"if the racetrack is approved we can
expect noise and air pollution, no matter how much people say they will preserve
the environment it does not happen. What good will the sound of a cheap thrill
bring of quick money? Do we think that the screaming spectators will be free of
drugs and prostitution?"

"has expressed his concern about the county doing the right thing and is
concerned about the impact it will have on the schools."

"Don’t cheapen our county by jumping on the first
thing that comes. He says that this is no better than prostitution."

"Item 43 Helipads, what are they going to do with helicopters; those are just a few of his concerns."

there were two that spoke in favor:

"He refereed to the signed petitions in favor for the racetrack. He
wants to know if this is going to be like NASCAR or is this going to be something that the county citizens will be available for use. He also indicated that he is all for growth."

"He states that the county is in a financial crisis and we cannot afford
to have a small group of people ruin it for the rest of the county. We are not talking about NASCAR."

Sometimes the people of this country hurt me...deep deep inside...
