12:31 PM EDT (1631 GMT) NEW YORK -- NBC's exclusive coverage of Sunday's Brickyard 400 was seen by a record 21 million viewers, one million more than last year's previous high for the event. Research. Why would Honda USA and Toyota North America care about market share overseas? You are joking...right? Check the sales figures for toyota in the US and just why do you think that toyota is attempting to get into Nascar. |

Because they want to sell in the US. Thats my entire point. CART having a bigger international than domestic presensce is why they struggle with support.

All the numbers that I have ever seen for F1 and CART have a little side note that says that the numbers include viewership on "weekly magazine style shows" (and they showed the same numbers that Russfield has up there). Also their numbers are for the weekend totals, which include qualifying and practice.
Question..what is the numbers for race day only. That is all that NASCAR counts. You never see numbers for Inside Winston Cup, Trackside @, or SpeedNews Nascar Edition. Are the other numbers also including shows like rpm2nite (it's a weekly mag show)? If so then the numbers are very distorted. |

no, just race broadcast. Maybe including qualifying but thats it since nothing else is covered. Qualifying isnt enough viewers to drastically change the numbers though, at least in the CART case.
The F1 numbers are race broadcasts only. The news and highlights and what not get a different set of numbers |

I enjoyed Sheryl Crow's perfomances but could have done without 3rd Eye Blind which I never cared for anyway!
I'd heard that the Champion would get around 3.5 Million dollars,so was surprised that He in fact got like 4.3 Million dollars instead!Even Jeff Gordon(4th place)got over 1 Million dollars! I'd also liked to seen a presnter that was more intuned to the NASCAR environment, perhaps a former legendary driver to MC the festivities,JMO! |

Still tells you something about just how long NASCAR has come over only the last 10 years or so, when you have Sheryl Crow performing and James Woods presenting at the NASCAR Winston Cup awards
