Not sure why you persist in the farce that is the ACO booking site when Catherine is so helpful. |

Re booking via Tourist Office, there are distinct benefits for campers wanting one of the premium campsites, TR in your case, I get that. But, booking direct with the ACO works perfectly for us namby pambys, apart from two years ago when we had a bit of a hiccup (my fault, I was a day late with our order). We've been able to get the same grandstand seats we've wanted, and car parking spaces we've wanted, direct through the ACO. In Andrew's case, he was able to choose the exact seats he wanted yesterday, from what was available, by booking online. Booking direct works for us perfectly, in the same way booking through the Tourist Office works perfectly for you, just depends on what tickets you want to buy. Seems we're all happy bunnies this year... |

Decided to buy my tickets at ACO this year, only I forgot it started yesterday. But, no harm done, got Epinettes camping and ACO grandstand. AND, saved €100,- by using my membership.
It is a shame though ACO are not selling all campsites. First time I'm not camping on HA. Was looking for a more quiet place, so hope Epinettes will be better. Anyone know if Epinettes has alocated spots, because it is not on the ticket. |

Got confirmation of T21 and Houx again for us, after going back to houx this year thanks to Vincent we decided that Houx is the best campsite for us as we are certain of electricity there.
Enjoyed my years at TR but glad to be back at Houx. |

Electricity in TR is a Heath Robinson affair, there are i think three electric points and each has a few plug spaces, by Monday it already looks like a a mess and as more people try to connect the whole system blows regular as clockwork. It usually get sorted quickly by someone but by Friday the pylons are a mess on connectors vast quantity of plastic tape and make shift covers trying to protect the mess from rain and long cables stretching across the campsite. Still most people survive and seem to be able to run fridges/cookers/TV's/microwaves/lighting and even ovens.

I bring a 100m lead and connect a 10m 4-way splitter to it for my fridge, stereo, chandelier , hot water kettle and phone charger. Yes that makes 5 items, but the kettle and charger have to make do changing position. And the kettle, all 2000W of it, does trip the switch now and then

Obviously the chandelier is the most important, it lights up the red gazebo a treat. A touch of class that is lacking in those lesser campsites

The ACO site is collapsed...it seems despite the winner is already well known for 2019 there will be fans.
Even me Entry and parking are bought |

I know some one this year said there was a motor race going on right next to our campsite, so nice of the ACO to lay on some entertainment

As some of you know I missed 2018 edition.
I have to say that although I missed being in La Sarthe greatly I am not sure that I will be back in 2019. I'm weighing up a lot of factors at the moment - in no particular order: Cost seems to go up for everything (notably food and drink in the circuit). A loss of the "old atmosphere" - the "village" has in my eyes been getting more and more like an F1 circuit every year and the continual evolution of the track into a F1 type open run-off track. The rest of my group has fallen out of love with the event. Festivities such as "Mad Friday" being stamped out (too) hard in my opinion. Safety concerns at the event (inside circuit and campsite). Lack of competition in the "top class". Personal factors at home as well. I'm sure closer to the time I will be tempted again, but at the moment I haven't applied for tickets and haven't renewed my ACO membership. |
