anybody notice with the incar telemetry near the end that the monaro was only revving to about 5500 down conrod?
I reckon its definitely capable of 2:10's, but i think nobody has seen it do its fastest yet, that car was definitely in enduro mode, driven to last. All of you saying its a v8 supercar may have your points, but they definitely didnt drive it like one. |

I was impressed by the WRX, the TE50, the SS And the Mirages. They finished very well and i personally would ratrher see more of that type of car in the event.
Couldn't agree more. Production car 24 hour. |

The Monaro was doing it easy, and probably could have done 2.09s, but they were only driving it at 6 or 7 tenths and it was still breaking, so what would have happened if they did push it, and if the Cirtek's Porsche's luck didn't run out after a faultless first 20 hours, the Porsche would have won, it was doing it easy at the time, and ended up leading the majority of the race.
The Monaro didn't get pole, but it had so much torque out of the corners, it was so obvious how fast it was out of Hell and the Cutting. Everyone will win in the end, Holden spent their money well, the publicity the Monaro created has pretty much cemented the event's future, and judging by it's preformance the parity police will hit it before next years Nations Cup kicks off. |

im betting they got what they wanted, whether parity is on its way or not. Seeing a Holden in front of ferrari and porsche certainly was a funny sight to me at first
Im sure that if all the scheduled HRT 427's werent sold already, they are now. |

Without a doubt Holden got what they wanted out of the event & that was publicity, now people worldwide are aware of the Monaro which is what Holden were after all along.

But what will it do to the Nations Cup? How many competitors would be peaved for the last time?
...Not much point having a race if there is only one car in it... |

While it would be nice to end up with an event to rival Le Mans would it be possible in future to utilise digital technology to have 2 telecasts in one (ie. viewers have the option of switching to coverage that concentrates on the rest of the field and vice versa)? |

I've got mixed feeling about this result.... in some ways I want to say well done Holden and well done to the GRM team. In fact it would be great if they would take this further and take this car to Europe.... would it be eligible for the Nurburgring 24hr race? Maybe homologation in an international GT category?
On the other hand, if half the reports are true, it seems that there was one rule for the eligibility of the Monaro and another for everyone else. As Crash Test says "what will it do to the Nations Cup?"...... while it's good to see the Monaro racing against Porsche GT3's and Ferrari's, if Holden get handed an advantage in the area of eligibility and parity, then very soon, Nations Cup will just be a field of Monaro's with a few other cars, and Bathurst 24hrs will just be like Bathurst 1000 but with 2 doors. International teams won't bother coming because they don't have confidence that the eligibility and parity issues will be carried out in a fair way. |

For next year, i have read that all cars will be effectively unrestricted, i think they will all tune them (with air restricters and so on) to N-GT specs.

The Porsche was behind when it crashed though, the Porsche lost the lead earlier when it had a driveshaft failure when 4 laps in front.
Had they both run problem free to the finish, i'd say it would have been close. The Monaro had come from 15 behind to 4 behind in 15 hours, and was generally the quickest on the track, but the Porsche wasn't really pushing, and when he really pushed Brabham seemed to be able to match the Monaro, would have been interesting |

The "other" Cirtek driver was also over 20s per lap slower, so a quicker 4th driver would have made a rather large difference too.

Possibly, but Manfred Jurez only did two stints, one in the night and one in the day, and the second one was cut short because he was losing time
