I think that the Subarus being given this penalty to nullify any advantage they had just echo's Sceptic's point that they are not hiding potential, without this I would imagine the Subarus would have been far more dominant, especially 2017 and well ahead of Honda on results over last 3 years.

For all of the accusation of Honda bias, they have had a new car to learn, and did have their boost turned right down in 2017. also worth noting that high proportion of these wins had come from Eurotech and Norlin now anyway

Cadwell is geographically restrained and probably too narrow for BTCC nowadays. Not sure Castle Combe would either need or want the hassle.

Angelsey may suit with some upgrades. Pembrey is past its sell by now.

So no Collard at WSR then. Be interesting to see if he finds another seat in the series. Where else could he go I wonder?

That said, the fact that someone seriously looked into bringing at least one out to play in 2018 means you should never say never...

If Collard has lost his seat at WSR it does suggest that they have drivers signed for the other two cars (otherwise the door would still be open for Collard - if for example Turkington did WTCR instead of BTCC).

Your probably right, but I noted he made the point that has the pair of them, and they own them, that was quite clear, (so they arent just storing them or preparing for another team or leasing them) I guess if its proven to be a better car there is nothing to stop him having 1 as a BTCC racer and the other as a rent-a-ride for TCT (or spares) which can be kept on the old parts.

I would like to see what the Infiniti can do with a decent peddler and a good team working on it., surely they wont take much to be bought up to current spec as I would imagine they have a lot of the standardised parts laying around from the Mercedes

Think you will find Collard had already decided to step down before the season ended or soon after. It isn't a case of losing the seat.

Jake was never going to be in a Civic as Trade Price Cars Racing do not own any Hondas, they only have Audis. AmD is merely the team providing the preparation and on-track support.

It is good to see Jake back in the championship but with 2019 being his 6th season he will need to prove he can improve his results.

Possibly - but that's not how it's been reported this week:

Jakes results are yet to make me think hes the real deal but the team owners seem to love him.
However a bit harsh to call it his 6th season when only 2 have been full seasons, not sure 2 rounds in 2 cars in 2013 or a 1 off in 2015 should really count as "seasons"

He said in MSN that he was disappointed to lose his seat so it doesn't sound like it was 100% his decision.

Always rated Jake Hill and no idea why others havent spotted his talent. His performances have not flattered in the VWCC with Team Hard, but then whose performances particularly have in that partnership in recent years?

Theres a reason team principals in 2017 voted him in their top 10 drivers of the season that year in MN, if i recall.

AmD have traditionally shown flashes of performance, the MGs definitely overperformed last year with Butcher and the Audi is only ever getting closer to the front.

Hoping for a good performance from Hill this year, and hope the team stick with that bright blue/fluoro yellow livery..

You seem to have forgotten how competitive the BTCC is. Shaun and AmD have been stalwarts of the championship for 8 years, working their way up.

Even Shaun would admit his team aren't the best funded by any stretch. Yet I think you'll agree they have never disgraced themselves by locking out the last row on the grid race after race throughout their NGTC era, like some other team/s?

but on the other hand many mid class teams did it already like BTC Norlin , laser Tools , the now defunct HMS heck even the old and cronically underfunded and controversial ES Racing did it a few years ago !!

with this potent ex -Eurotech Civics there are no excuses , at least a reverse grid win should be on the cards if he puts a capable driver

Not surprised to see Hill at TPC in the Audi, after coming close to switching to AMD this past season. Plus he’s driven the car before well, so he should do well with it
