Open Sports Ford Can Am

Does anyone know what happened to the Open Sports Ford entered for the last two Can Am races of 69 by Alan Mann racing?

It raced at Riverside driven by Frank Gardner, then at Texas driven by Jack Brabham to third place.

I thought it looked a little like an F3L with the roof cut off. Really pretty car.

Any clues?

PS, how do you go about putting pics on this board?

Duncan Fox, perhaps you might know the answer to this one? I'd love to know what happened to this car.

Also, anyone know the whereabouts of the George Eaton McLaren M12 Can-Am car from 69, and the Lothar Motschenbacher M12 from 69? I vaguely remember seeing an ad in an English classic car mag for the Motschenbacher car a few years ago, I think it was in Germany. The M12, I think, is a very nice looking car.

Any clues?

I think Peter Kaus now has the ex-Eaton(Graene Lawrence in 1970) M12, it may have been rebuilt as an M6GT.

Peter Schleifler owned the ex-Motschenbacher car , I guess this would have been after the advert you mentioned. I think it went back to the US in 2000, but I've not got any further details.

Motschenbacher's M8C was also for sale on race-cars.com aswell a few years ago.

Thanks Jeremy. I have an older magazine cut out from at least ten years ago in which a large number of Can-Am cars were gathered for one of their reunion meetings. One of the cars looked as though it may have been the Eaton car. The car was facing front on, and it was painted gold, with a purple stripe up the middle, which was the colour it raced in 70. I haven't seen any photos of the car since. Good to know it survived.

Here's another, what happened to the Bryant Ti22 that Jackie Oliver raced in 1970? There was a car built in 69, with the tall wing, but it was destroyed in 1970, and a new car was built. David Hobbs drove it in 71.

Anyone have an answer on the fate of the Open Sports Ford yet?

Cheers

Steve, the Eaton M12 was owned by Bill Jongbloed (think my spelling's OK, from my notes) before Kaus. I'd like to think it was till in it's original trim, and my info. about a coupé conversion is incorrect!

Can't help with the Autocoast, I'm afraid.
