ELMS 2013 Discussion
(Apologies if there is a thread for this already, if so delete of merge)
Anyway, seems like the calender is out:
Quote:
#ELMS schedule just came out. Silverstone April 12-13, Imola May 17-18, Austria July 19-20, Hungary Sept 13-14, Paul Ricard Sept 27-28

via Tony DiZinno on Twitter. Story should be up on racer.com in a little while.
Weird of them to release it during the PLM race.

It's the final round of the ELMS so maybe not so weird.
Good to see the Silverstone double-header confirmed. A feast of sportscars a couple of months before the big one.

Happy to see the Red Bull Ring on the schedule, what a beautiful place. Any news on race distances?

Is it set in stone or is their scope to expand at all? I love it that ELMS is back, the season just seems a little short!

4.5 hours from what I've heard. I could imagine it being billed as 500 Miles, as that's just about as long as they'll travel in that period of time.
Edit: DSC says 3 hour races.

Three hours... Well, I guess the running costs will be low.

12-13.04 Silverstone GBR with FIA WEC
17-18.05 Imola ITA with FFSA GT Tour
19-20.07 Red Bull Ring AUT with World Series by Renault
13-14.09 Hungaroring HUN with World Series by Renault
27-28.09 Paul Ricard FRA with World Series by Renault
What about Official Test Session on Paul Ricard in March? And what's "FFSA GT Tour" ?
Three-hour races, two-day weekends, no changes to class structure - a good direction?

GT Tour is the French GT3 championship. Has seen better times, though, with grids down to 20-ish cars these days.

I'm typing this from memory so apologies if I'm wrong but those dates look vaguely familiar, I think these dates are going to clash with the WEC and ALMS. I'm going to check schedules now.

Hmm, somehow I don't think that calender will bring in masses of GT3 cars (if they want 3 hour races they might just as well stay in Blancpain), and without GT3s growing the GT-field will be challenging, to say the least.

Too right, they don't have a chance with British GT and Blancpain ruling the roost.
