Love the circuit, well worth the 400+ mile round trip.

Thanks for that brands.

Some excellent grids.

Richard Owen in the Galaxie should be interesting. Not the sort of ride one might normally consider for Cadwell. IMO.

Splendid - the nicest time of year, the best UK circuit at which to spectate (and a blast to drive too ) and the purest , and most entertaining form of single seater racing in FF1600 .And lots of other good stuff too- I'm there for the weekend .

Very envious, can't make it this year owing to family commitments. really enjoyed the last 3 years but it falls too soon after DHF. I'm planning the Thruxton celebration weekend next month, enjoy, as you say the best spectator circuit in the UK and so picturesque.

Fantastic weekend.
Such a lovely circuit and very photogenic, weather was wall to wall sunshine if a tad nippy at night.
Some great racing over the two days and really enjoyed watching and snapping from around Charlies. Shame it's 200 miles from home.

A very scary incident in todays FF final with a car being launched and coming to rest upside down with the driver unable to get out and flames from just behind him.
Three brave souls managed to right the car and the driver was able to escape. Seems the driver and his three helpers all were uninjured, which is the best result of the weekend.
Hope to be able to return next year

What a fantastic weekend. £20 weekend ticket, wall to wall sunshine, free camping in our new camper van, marvellous cars and racing, expert and entertaining commentary, Britain's most beautiful venue and faultless organisation. I would be hard pressed to think of anything that could be improved.

If anyone involved in modern motorsport wants to understand what we slightly older people love about racing this is it. Competitive and respectful. Serious competition with camaraderie and an open attitude to spectators. No tarmac runoff separating you from the action and no debates on track limits. Quite simply a brilliant weekend.

I'll edit my photos over the next few days and post them on here.

How anybody would have wanted to be anywhere else last weekend escapes me. Just perfect - I'd hate to see it get too popular but if anyone who has only been to watch racing at Silverstone (say ) went to Cadwell, they would be gob smacked at the beauty of the place and in need of tranquilisers when they saw how close they were to the action

There was a great feelgood factor the whole weekend. The circuit looked stunning. There was a great deal of luck involved in the happy outcome of the FF1600 crash and there were also at least 3 very unsafe releases from the assembly area onto a live track that could have been nasty.

Look for David Walton on Facebook for a video of one example.

It was my son Callum who stopped his Merlyn and ran back and with the help of two spectators rolled over Nelson Rowe's Burning car and released him from the wreckage.
Was I surprised it was Callum? not at all and nor was anyone else, he was very shaken up and very emotional as was I his very proud Dad. Nelson just wanted to hug him later on in the paddock and the look on Nelson's little girls face said it all.

Donkeys years ago I pulled a driver out of his car which was well alight . Having been a retained fireman for ten years . Well done Calum it’s one of those things you don’t stop to think about also well done the two spectators who I guess must of jumped over the safety fence .

Callum got a big round of applause from everyone spectating in the area by the cafe when he came by to rejoin the rest of the cars. The flames were clearly visible from where we were. Looking at the state of the car afterwards, Nelson wouldn't have stood a chance without the help of Callum and the two others.

I bet he didn't hug Callum too hard - he was already feeling very sore!

I was also spectating at Chariles on both days, great meeting, great weather.

The only bad part was Nelson Rowe's accident in Sundays Formula Ford race,
I did't see the start of the incident,( I picked that momment to change lens on my camara) first I saw there was a car rolling end over end towards me landing upsidedown on the grass with flames around the fuel tank.
There were 2 flag marshal at each of the three post I could see, but no fire or incident marshals, the Race rescue unit was parked by the Charlies out marshals post & could't drive the wrong way on a still live circiit any more than a flag marshal on the inside of Charlies should run across the circuit carrying an extinguisher. (memories of Tom Pryce come to mind)

Thanks to Callum Grant & two spectators the car was rolled over & Nelson helped out of the remains of his Crossle, & was soon able to walk to the Ambulance.

I noticed that for the rest of the meeting a marshal was posted on the bank on the outside of Charlies. To little to late, I think they need two incident/fire marshals there at all times, they may do nothing all day but get a sun tan but I don't want to see spectators having to go to the aid of a trapped drive again.

I heard that the car, as visible in the Scrutineering area, looked more worrying than it did at the scene in that safety parts that had done their job already finally gave way as the car was being lifted to the recovery vehicle.

A covering of fire retardant residue always makes for a more dramatic mental image as well.

Clearly it was a significant incident and being stranded upside-down with fire present and a nearly full tank is both worrying and unusual. But based on the descriptions of what happened, the car structure survived pretty well, as evidenced by the driver's successful release achieved with the help of the resources immediately available rather than a specialist unit with special equipment.

So, a nasty incident and better that it had not happened but there seem to be some positives to take from it.

The car did it's job Grant and although the roll loop appeared broken before they lifted the car, it did protect the driver's head in a violent impact and roll. Driver walking away once released shows the rest of the car held up.

The actual sight of a trapped driver in a flaming car brought back horrible images of accidents in the 60s and 70s so thank you Callum and the two spectators.

The marks on Cameron Jackson's engine cover and roll hoop support (tyre rubber I think) suggest he was extremely lucky as well, given that he went on to win the re-run.
