VX,VY,HMS, Chev ?

Can anyone in the know shed some light on what configuration Commodore Holden Teams are required to run in 2004 in the main series ? At the moment it seems that any variation of VX/18 Degree Chev, VY/18 Degree Chev, VX/HMS, VY/HMS can be run, but surely this is outside of the "original" Project Blueprint specs ?

The short answer is the VY can run the old VX engine this season. And will do so in many teams, including some ex-Symbol boys and girls.

TEGA should be on a mission here, to make a VY a true VY as per the original Blueprint spec. The teams have had a full 12 months to do this now, if they need more time there is something wrong somewhere

Pretty much Holden can do whatever they like and the rules will be changed to suit them. Originally all teams were to be running HMS engines from 2004 onwards. But Project Blueprint was changed for them so they could still use the Chev engines. But when some Ford teams were looking at getting some high port cylinder heads from Nascar to use in their engines, Holden Motorsport boss Ray Borrett said that Project Blueprint had been agreed on and no changes should be made. He didnt seem to mind when the changes being made were suiting him and his teams.

Funny its the Holden boys having trouble all of a sudden. If the Ford runners are following the project why should the Holden get away with another year to comply.TEGA should land like a tonne of bricks. Before you get ready to shoot me to peices I have no knowledge of a Ford team haveing problems but that doesn't mean that they don't if you know what I mean.

Right even as Ford dominated 2004 TEGA sure did change those rules and put Holden right back to the front.

Thanks for the insight guys. It certainly seems to me that Holden have managed to get another special dispensation when it comes to imposing the obviously inadequate rules ....

Actually, the VY's were supposed to be full blueprint spec for 2003 but Holden said we can't due to a supply problem with the Aurora componenty. The deadline was then set for the 04 season and now the excuse is it will cost us too much so its been extended again.

its just another su*k job for holden, always has been, always will be.
for some unexplainable reason the powers that be, no matter who they are, change the rules to suit whatever holden want

There is an upside to it though, the HMS powerplants are being sprinkled thru the field now, whereas they were seriously hidden away from everyone....

That wouldnt be possible if they switched to Aurora....

But the downside is still the inconsistency of the rules... I mean Dynamik, GRM, PMM & CPR managed to find enough bits to build engines... why cant the other Holden heroes?

It just makes a complete joke of the rules yet again, just how far can they bend over for Holden ?

I really can't fathom how it is allowed to happen. Holden got what it wanted, they should be made to run those motors.

The Signature of The Tool Man
You can try all you like to convince me otherwise but I will always think that Mark Skaife, Greg Murphy, Steven Richards,Jason Bright and Garth Tander, are just a waste of valuable V8 Supercar Seats that could be taken by someone who WONT push others off the track to get past and WILL drive cleanly.
Gotta love that signature

In all seriousness, and all jibes aside, can anyone shed light on the reason for the extension being granted? Seems we all have our own little pet theories, but anyone have the actual facts?

I wish they would make all VY runners run the HMS engine just to shut up all the Ford supporters . I dont think it actually makes any difference which engine they run in turms of performance from what I haver seen .

The thing is, apart from the Stones, Ford didn't realy do that well - I mean how many other teams won through outright speed? (Yes, lowndes doesn't count - even if he is lowndes!!)

Yeh Lowndes won at the island but only with a better pit strergie and the luck of being able to put on wets at the same time.Bright didn't do Ambrose any favors either.FPV should after a year be more competitive and DJR need results as they have been at it long enough. As to facts as to why the delay apparently getting the parts required and instalation processes.Personally they have had all the off season to fix it.On another matter concerning parity why are holden allowed to run such a large gurny flap and Ford have a cheese cutter in comparison.
