Mike Conway
I read with interest the article on Mike Conway at the back of this weeks autosport. He came across as a dedicated young man, who tries hard to put across a professional image and does all the right things to help reach the top (eats chicken and pasta instead of steak and chips, good boy).
So then I looked up his website, and I came across this... And I'm sorry, but that is just ridiculous. What was his PR man thinking? Last edited by sgrok; 9 Mar 2002 at 16:19. |

I personally enjoyed the scooter with the "racing driver" sticker on the front cowling.

...and I personally wondered if his father or best friend wrote the article.

That is Unreal! After Button got a slating for his 'playboy' lifestyle I'd have thought young drivers would do better to be photographed studying thermodynamics than spraying water over scantily clad tarts in lycra!

The article was written and published by his management team. Mike's another OK karter who has done nothing more than he should have given the financial support he's enjoyed.
He has a good chance of getting to F1 because the way things are going drivers who can bring along a wedge instead of asking for one will be in demand in a year or two. Oh, well, plus ca change, plus ca meme chose or whatever the French say!!! |

Whats The Big Problem
I had a look at the website picture, is there a real problem ?
Also it's called having a laugh!!! this is what a lot of petty people that have nothing to do, should do more often. not mentioning any names s"@g The only Criticism i have to it. is that she wasn't naked that would have been better. So for all you old farts out there lose about 30 years and come in to the real world !!!! |

i'm told Mike's a really nice bloke, but I can't be doing with his moaning and *****ing whenever he ends up on the second step of the podium

My point is, if you read through my first post properly, that Conway seems a decent hard working bloke.
But I think he has a seriously misguided 'PR' team behind him, that are in danger of damaging his credibility if he does end up on the podium. There's fun, humour, and being game for a laugh - and there's also being made a laughing stock. Overdoing the PR element is unhealthy for a driver. They should let the driving do the talking. |

Oh well, I am sorry for having an opinion. People are very quick to slate others on this board. (Stephen Kane?)
But I'll happily be your scapegoat. As I said, my post is directed at the pr people, not conway. |
