At the moment Advanced Engine Research (AER) supplies the engines. Will MG end this partnership coming season?

How much experience does AER have producing high revving engines? And ST experience?

Is there a reason for MG to change to another engine supplier? I think there isn't.

Apart from the fact they detonate with alarming regularity, perhaps...?
I think we're all overlooking one vital point here - MG are not yet confirmed to be competing next year! |

MG Rover are selling cars, and perhaps the only marque that have regular MG owning enthusiasts at the race meetings, arriving in convoy & parking together. You may have seen the display at Snetterton?

Which you'd kind of expect, really, can't see BMW encouraging MG owners to turn up and park together.
In any case that doesn't actually tell us whether they're in the red or the black... |

BMW? They having nothing to do with MG Rover anymore..
I think as a whole MGR are still in the red, but losses being steadily reduced.. Some new models about to be launched which should improve overall cash flow.. I think MG will go on to race in 2004! |

AER have lost the contract to supply the engines, with effect from next year. So my sources say!

MG still have not confirmed that they will be racing next year. Judd did build the Nissan engines and are in the BTCC at the moment... or they were at Snetterton

i don't think mg will pull out, i have no definate figures but to my mind you now see loads of mgs on the road, more than their equivalent rover versions. they're quite popular with young people, as well. to pull out now would be daft, they're everybodys 'underdog'favourites as the race meets as well, also with brilliant liverys, i think the btcc would have a gaping hole without them

Here in Holland there aren't many MG's on the Road. I cannot remember that I have seen one.

MG are making a loss but in business terms they are maiing a profit eg when they where a small part of BMW they where leaking money big time thus being sold off for something like £1 and BMW giving them a few million to get a start with. Since then the quaterly losses have gone down, eg losing less. The company has to speculate to accumulate thus BTCC, LeMan etc.. they change their image and so their fortunes. MG at Le Man/BTCC have massive support and of course are actually British unlike Vauxhall (GM) which are American, Honda - Japan, Proton - Malaysia, Peugeot - French, BMW - German, Nissan - French (owned by Renualt). Other than MG we only really have TVR as motorsports co. that does road cars. No to say of course we don't do well in motorsports though, F1 - nearly all cars/engines, same for other motorsports.

Interesting, two companies, both claiming to have powered the ST Nissans?

If I remember correctly, Nissan switched tuners mid-season so both claims are to an extend correct

MG should be running a 4pot next year instead of the 6. This should give them a level playing field.
Anyway Proton have commitied to next year, and they have had a much worse, BTCC campaign than MG. |
