Ingram was slower than would have been expected. Turkington may have been caught out by this.

Smiley took the corner at normal pace. Plato used the honda's bumper as a brake.

I can sort of forgive the move at Wilson - it's a heavy braking hairpin with cars close together, so difficult to tell what was deliberate and what was just one car braking differently to the other.

The move by Plato to retake the lead at Agostini is a completely different matter. I might believe that was accidentally is it was someone who had never driven a car before. That was as blatant as it gets

It's entertainment. I guarantee that race will be talked about on social media far more than the majority of recent BMW dominated races. It's not pure motorsport. I love a bit of argy bargy in the BTCC as much as I love a clean GT battle. There's room for both in the world and I know which one appeals to the man in the street and hence the sponsors. British GT didn't have a fraction of the crowd that will be at Brands GP for BTCC.

2 separate penalties for Plato put him down to 17th.

He wasn't actively defending, just trying to get some heat into the hard compound tyres. That's ok as he wasn't reacting to the car behind.

Not a chance of the Subaru catching anyone down a straight so it was perfectly safe to do.

The stewards set their stall out with the Chilton penalty in the first meeting. Either they stick to it, or they don't.

All the cars have a middle pedal. Pressing it isn't difficult.

Plato was embarrassing after the race (and during the race as well)

He clearly has a major chip on his shoulder about Sutton

Fair to say JP got his just deserts.

Though shalth use thy middle peddle, not t'car in front to stop.

Has Sutton claimed he didn't see Butcher on the corner where he tried to run round JPs outside? Just wondering what his explanation for that particular stupidity is?

That'll be because Sutton handed Plato his arse on a plate in the Subaru - which was supposed to be the 'wonder car' that would allow Plato to walk to another title.

So... positives:

Tingram and Speedworks have made massive strides forward. Likely be at the pointy end for the remainder of the season, reliability permitting.

Rory Bs opportunistic driving and race craft shone today. Looking as at home in the FK2 as Flash did. I'm hoping for fireworks when we get to Knockhill.

The Infiniti looked to be handing sweetly... young Aidan looked far more at home in his first meeting to my mind than he has in the Merc. All things being equal this could be a competitive package once some miles are on the clock.

Rob C seems to be settling into the Astra now. He's not looked comfortable before this weekend. Maybe we'll have a few more years of Rob yet

Negatives:

Nic H looked like a fish out of water. Not the only one but kept taking my eye. Five incidents I clocked and I wasn't paying any attention to him.

Matt Neal disappeared into oblivion after that race one bump. Sadly Flash moving on has left Dynamics looking the worst of the Honda teams. Dan Camm is decent but lacks Rory B, Cookie or Sam's racecraft. Matt in the FK8 is becoming more and more like JP in the Subaru.

JP thinks pantomime season has started already. Oh no it hasn't!

To my mind the championship is a straight battle between Colin and AJ now - anybody like to call it differently?

More to it than that.

Young Ash, or anyone associated with Mr Scott, would do wise to steer a wide berth around JP. Line up a move, pull it off and skedaddle. Or keep out of harm's way...

JDMROB should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
In a way I wish there wasnt such thing as social media and peoples entitlement to opinions on the internet. Especially when they havent got a clue.

The facts...

Plato was in the wrong. Sutton didnt do anything wrong. Sutton has the right to be annoyed. He was fired off from leading the race after a perfectly good move to take the lead. He would have won.

Anyone that says any of that isnt true is wrong.

BUT. It was a fantastic spectacle, got fans excited, social media went mad, people feel they got there moneys worth. It's a difficult job Alan Gow has. I'm sure he would love to be able to let people get away with what we saw in race 3. But he cant. It has to be regulated. It's such a fine line to keep fans and teams happy.

Personally I thought it was great. It was good to see a bit of rivalry and passion. It was like the 90's. It was obvious from lap 1 when Plato got the lead that Sutton was not getting passed him. You can sense the trouble that is still ongoing between the parties. I love it.

For a split second during race three I amazed myself by thinking "Crikey, clean driving by Plato there, well done for leaving Sutton room". That was just a split second though, JP soon returned to his usual arrogant style of driving...

Pretty gutted about the grief Sutton was getting on social media last night. He doesn't deserve that.

He beat JP in the same car for two seasons, raced hard but fair, yet the amount of tweets and comments angry at him for having the cheek for even trying to overtake Plato is pretty disheartening. Seem like most people didn't realise Plato was penalised.

I've followed this series for a long time, this is a bitter pill to swallow.
