The car is the GT3 version of the GTR that debuted at Spa, not the VLN version of the GTR.

It's that slow because the Schulzes are amateurs basically, no surprise.

Oh right it's just that the bodywork is different and it evewn has the same GT decals as the GTR entered in VLN last season.

Not the most exciting racing action I have ever seen. But the setting was beautiful and I was quite impressed with the TV production. The Alpinas, Mercs, and Audis seemed to be absolutely screwed by the balance of performance. Thank you for the link tbz, I have been wanting to see a GT-Masters race for a while.

Ah, I think the Alpinas and Audis problem was more the success weight rather than BoP... they did pretty well at the Nuerburgring.

Also, Red Bull Ring really seems to suit the Porsches, they already won at least one of the two races there last year.

The Porsches dominated the weekend, Race 1: Porsches 1,2,3,4 Race 2: 1,2
Although the Corvette would have won race two had it not run out of fuel with 6 minutes left.

The series is slowly spreading out of Germany, does anyone see it clashing with Ratels proposed Blancpain Sprint Series? Havent followed the series all that closely this year but does it still have the big grids and gun driver lineups of yesteryear?

As a series with german championship status the international ambition is limited
Spa is a concession to the dutch and belgium participants coming from the BeNeLux - apart from being a superb track
RBR & Slovakiaring are for the austrian teams and especially drivers.
I guess the slovakiaring is additional very low on track-fees - which is a must after 2 rounds on the expensive Nürburgring this year

The ADAC GT Masters is pro-am, so it's not a real rival to the BS Series.

Not at all - in fact you can run pro-squads with 2 platinum drivers since its start in 2007. That was unique in GT3 before BES started to allow this too

Here on article 26 says that platinum-platinum combinations aren't allowed.

OK - you´re correct. Just from Platinum-Gold downwards with decreasing handicap-weight.

Disappointed to see the grid will be limited to 28 entrants in 2013. Among other things, I see this as stifling the addition of guest cars at individual rounds. I can understand why the organizers might think that can undermine their regular teams (who are their most important stakeholders), but from a spectator perspective I can't say I share that view.

High 30s... but with apparently a lot of teams unhappy about tires and/or BoP reaching 28 might actually be a bit of a challenge for next year.

This was related to a tire problem with the new supplier that is already adressed to Yokohama - new spec tires have already been tested and shall solve the issue existing for mid-engined cars.
