The Visit Florida Racing team is coming into race week with very little sleep after experiencing late-night dramas that set the WEC-spec Riley/Multimatic Mk 30 P2 program back. With the clock approaching midnight last Saturday, the team attempted to warm up its fresh Gibson V8 race engine, which lasted less than a minute before the motor went off after it ingested something hard through one of the inlet trumpets.

Halted before a complete engine failure took place, the team was forced to make a dash down to Rebellion Racing's temporary base in Florida to retrieve the Gibson V8 it used in testing through the Roar. That motor, sent to Rebellion as part of a contingency plan if the Swiss team's race motor did not arrive in time, was driven back to the VFR shop and plugged into the No. 90 machine.
Owing to the short turnaround time involved, the damaged motor will not be ready for the race, leaving VFR to use its pre-season testing engine. Upgrades to that motor, including the drive-by-wire system, will be completed by Gibson at the track and will not require the motor to be removed.

Whoops.....

Always smart to count fasteners, tools, and scraps prior to engine start. I remember one disgustingly hot weekend in 2003 putting a motor back in one of the CA Vipers, nobody bothered to put the rear main seal in, didn't get three laps in before it went kablammo.... derp.

Always wise to check, check, double check, and check again.

Yeah, it looks like Gibson gave new engines for the race and maintained the used ones as backup. As with the chassis, everything is so new that there aren't many spares. Check the Nissan thread.

Checking the weather once again, looks like the rain should hold off for the proceedings today with the chance going up to 30% overnight. However, this is FLA and there's a 15% chance of rain all day, which from my experiences in this state, this means you could get an absolute downpour for 10 mins and followed by extreme sun for the rest of the day.

I like the new official IMSA live timing. Quite customizable. You can get rid of columns that you don't care about. I also hide the LMPC class out too.

i like the column for car manufacturer too. There are some of the GTD teams that i can't always remember what car they have, and the alkamel scoring doesn't have that info.

The new IMSA scoring looks good with the icons, but the alkamer is easier to read for me.

it looks like some of the cars were for qualy laps, while other just made some practice with new drivers.
