VSCC Cadwell

Having enjoyed the VSCC at Harewood yesterday I'm thinking of their Cadwell meeting on Saturday. As organising club BARC (Yorkshire )publish the Harewod entry on line but for reasons which escape me the VSCC don't publish their entries except to members . I don't want to do a near 300 mile round trip on spec - anyone have access to the entry? I promise not to tell ...

Derwent is heading for a stewards' enquiry!
Yes, the VSCC are always very "private" about their entry lists and in some cases (trials) the location.
It no doubt goes back to the "right crowd and no crowding" attitude that sill exists in the Club.

To be fair , although the website is a pain, I've always found VSCC people some of the friendliest in motorsport. Posh folk, not so posh and rough around the edges folk - and all happy to talk about their cars and show you around them. A contrast to some of the absurdly self important team members in higher echelons of the sport - no privacy tape in the VSCC paddock ...

I’d agree. I’ve always found them to be very welcoming. I’m not sure whether their lack of advanced information is deliberate or simply uncoordinated - until about 3-years ago I used to be one of their accredited photographers and quite often the information was a bit last minute. Normally great events though.

Hoping to attend on Saturday if I get chance, as I haven’t been to one of their meetings for a couple years (a regular attendee previously).

Seems ages since I used to post bulk photos from race meetings! But here's few random sets from Cadwell Park on Saturday.

Sunshine and showers (very heavy mid-afternoon during the Triple-M race) but an enjoyable day. Crowds seemed a bit thinner than in the past as did the paddock, but maybe that's just down to my recollection from previous meetings there.

Anyway, the first of three sets of photos:

Link to a YouTube video that I put together - a few paddock scenes and a couple of race extracts, not the whole event. I know I'm no videographer!

Many thanks for the super video, great photos too.
Has encouraged me to go to a VSCC event, perhaps
Mallory in August.

Gary, you have certainly caught the essence of the day in your photos, having attended a lot VSCC meetings over many years, I can almost feel as if I was there when looking at them. You have captured all of the relaxed, yet busy nature of he paddock, people tinkering with old cars, lots of smiles- wonderful!
I suspect that my trackside days are now gone, and even spectating seems unlikely, so keep up the good work.
The on-track shots are very good indeed, especially in the rain, loved them.
What camera were you using, out of interest?

Kind regards,

Bob.

PS; Why not join in the Parade, fresh blood is needed.

Thanks Bob. I think I've only attended 2 or 3 race meetings since COVID for various reasons, mainly due to mountain rescue work taking up most weekends (our busy periods!). But I should try and get to more races. Noted re the Parade!

Camera - I switched exclusively to FujiFilm cameras about 10-years ago when mirrorless were in their infancy. Auto focus was poor then but their current range is excellent. I had three with me on Saturday but the one for the rain shots was a FujiFilm X-H2s.

Lovely shots, which evoked the spirit of the day beautifully. And where better to see such lovely machinery than Cadwell ? Hall Bends on a June morning , bird song from mature trees on both sides of the track and a Frazer Nash on opposite lock - heaven .
