Toyota gains first customer team
Kelley Racing has announced their partnership with Toyota for the 2002 season. Toyota is obviously getting involved in the program to win and have picked one of the strongest IRL teams from last year. Kelley Racing also is a technical partner with Marlboro Penske and I am sure we will be hearing that the Penkse team will also be sporting Toyota V8s under their airboxes as well.
Will having teams with proven winners on board be enough for Toyota to topple Chevy from the top of the pile in the IRL? How is Nissan/Infiniti going to respond? Surely the two IRL stalwart engine suppliers are not going to take this standing still. |
