Saleen S7R Chassis Numbers
I am currently working on building a database of chassis numbers for the Saleen S7R. I was wondering anyone knows some of the following chassis numbers?
I have found 9 total Saleen S7R chassis numbers. (002R, 003R, 004R, 009R, 010R, 014R and 015R) are all the ones that RML built. (029R, 031R) are the 2 ACEMCO Saleen’s that Saleen built in-house. I need to find the following: -the first chassis run at Laguna Seca in 2000 (is it 001R?) -DDO Saleen that races in the French GT Championship. -Dr Equipe Team S7R that runs in the Italian GT Championship (may be a RML built chassis?) -The Spanish GT Saleen that ran in 2001 and 2002 (I think it was run by Graham Nash) does anyone have any of these numbers ? it would be a big help if you do. thanks in advance, |

The one that ran in Spanish was a Graham Nash run car. So if you already have the chassis numbers for the cars he ran, I'm pretty sure it will be one of those.

A 001R never raced - if there is one - so the 002R will be the chassis which raced in Laguna at first in 2000. That´s the oldest chassis.
The DDO Saleen is 035R. I even don´t have a clue about the Italian car. Which one is the 009R ? |

002R is the most experienced chassis out there. it pretty much stayed with Konrad , (Ran in the Vitaphone colors).. are you sure 001R never raced? was 001R at least built? (was it the test chassis that RML used - all in white)
Thanks for the DDO number! 009R i found as entering a Spanish GT race in 2002 with Pedro Chaves and Miguel Ramos. I guess this is the Spanish GT chassis.. But what did it do after that? Was this that one chassis that was sold to Adam Wilcox (DAMAX i think?), but then they never recieved it? Could this be the Italian GT chassis? |

No chassis was evere sold to Adam Wilcox - there was talk that the ex GNM car owned by Pete Sands was sold to the DRM outfit with which Adam won the 2004 Brit GT dailysportscar.com Cup
Since nothing has been heard since from the outfit it's safe to assume that no money chnaged hands. |

yes, i understood that, DRM nor Adam have the chassis. sorry. I tracked down that chassis number and it was 009R. I am now just wondering if thats the one that DR Sport has in the Italian GT Championship...

The only thing I know about DR's chassis was that it was "an older car, but never before raced" according to one of the drivers in a DSC report at the beginning of the season. He was mentioning this in light of the fact that it was an essentially gimmick-free Saleen, no TC etc. on it.

so i guess it cant be 009R, since that raced. this is probably the 8th chassis built by RML (i am in contact with the RML people now, they should be able to find it for me). RML built 8 Saleen chassis's total. The DDO and ACEMCO examples come from Saleen direct (as well as the 2006 models).
which chassis is this one though? This was the one that RML shook down at Donington in mid 2000 i believe. Could it be 002R? Does anyone know which one the factory team ran at Laguna that year? (the nr 55 one in factory paint) Also, which chassis's did Nash run in the BGT in 2002? theres 4 to choose from (003R, 010R, 009R, 015R).. I do remember the story of 003R(Franz Konrad's chassis) replacing one of the crashed S7R's from Knockhill- and then Mike Newton just later bought it off Franz).. I am getting closer to figuring all this out! |

Quote:
"The DR Sport Equipe Saleen sounds very strange, not like the FIA GT cars, thanks to the noise restrictor… Davide Mastracci: “The car itself was built in 2002, one of the very first examples, but never raced. We haven’t any 2005 specs., no carbon brakes, we only have the 2005 new wing. We also don’t have traction control. For the second round it’s almost sure we’ll have it.” Sorry Graham, if posting a quote like this is out of order. I normally don't like to talk too much about things read on DSC on the board because it subverts subscriptions a bit, but I think this is of service to the general understanding of sportscar chassis history in the public domain. |

yea,, i had to go look that back up myself, i forgot that it was in one of the Italian GT reports on DSC. It sounds like it could be a chassis somewhere in the number range of 11-20..
RML should know, as im certain they built it. (if it was in 2002). Ill let everyone know when i do find out |

RML got back to me and DR Equipe runs the nr 009R chassis. that was the one which ran the Spanish GT Championship in 2001 and 2002.
I also got loads more of information from them too, some even correcting some of my original data. My plan is to launch my database in one month's time. |

I've also been working on an S7R database. According to my research, 14 S7Rs were raced out of 82 S7s built in total. It's likely that a few more were built for collectors or spare cars that never raced though.
So far I've gone through 2001-2003 and I'm starting on 2004 today. |
