When you think that we can now determine for sure the gender of a fly turning in orbit around Mars… May be we could help a trucker to cross the Channel with few or no hassle. May be I say…

We have noticed the same sort of thing this week. With centralised hubs for mail sorting creating postal chaos is likely to have a high success rate for the virus as we head into the second quarter of the pandemic.

WIll we start seeing a lot more trailers on the back of trucks, one for goods, one for paper work ?

On a more serious note, in the early 2000's I worked for a good sized logistics Company as a design/proposals engineer. most of the projects were in factories, but an increasing amount were for then new distribution centres, something that is now the norm, not just the UK, but all over the EU . . . . I wonder in England at least whether we'll start to see a return to local distibution from individual manufacturers/suppliers, to simplify the import/export processes you have already highlighted.

Have to check with my crystal radio if it still broadcasts de Gaulle, saying "Les Français parlent aux Français".

By the way you must have kept an abacus with missing balls to count, Joe. Alfaholics said 20 years ago which gives circa 2000, out of taxes and tariffs not 1950!

Wine from Puglia?, what's wrong with English wine apart from being more expensive??.

I just heard on the wireless that there is no milk at Tesco in Londonderry/Derry due to incorrect paperwork for the inbound trucks. They have cows in Northern Ireland which presumably produce milk. Bonkers.

Well in fairness there are some very good English wines, but mostly white. Also suggesting my wine was delivered from Chorlton-cum-Hardy has less of a ring to it.

I thought Smirnoff was made in Warrington? (Or that was what the TV advert used to lead us to believe, but that was a long time ago).
"Vere is Varrington?" was the question asked...

We have a thriving brewery or two around here. Hornes does an amazing IPA and Tring Brewery supplies some fine bitter. Hornes will deliver UK wide.

I've just been reading about the Kent Access Permit required to get a truck across the county and into Europe. I see that it doesn't apply to <7.5t and only to cross channel traffic.

A question for locals - are there checkpoints across the county checking this? The article that put me on the trail mentions a £32k Brexit Bonus in fines so far, but is this levied roadside or at the ports?

Asking for a friend. Absolutely nothing to do with my team racing at Lydd this year . MSUK won't be any help with the carnet as it's an "independent" meeting.
