My Tracks Raceway 4
For those who are new, we started this thing on the old "My Tracks" thread. Every 2500 posts, we would post a "My Tracks Raceway". Basically, someone provides a base concpet layout. This is modified by the various forum members either by posting an edit or giving suggestions. Finally, one member, who has a particularly good grasp of how to draw tracks up with detail graphics constructs the final version, and posts it on the 2500th post (post 10,000 in this case).
The circuit itself is intended for major international series, though it generally ends up having a number of shorter variants for smaller events. I know we still have around 250 posts till the 10,000 mark, but this should give us plenty of time to work out an excellent design before then. So, to the newer members, I say welcome, and to Pirenzo, TR, and co., let's make this another good one! And Pirenzo, sorry if you feel put on the spot, but I think you're probably the best one to draw up the final version, given your previous ultra-high-detail tracks. |

I've been thinking about this.
This is the dimillennial MTR-track, so it's to be really good. I'm just gonna post the three others, so people can see what we've done before. My Tracks Raceway Autodromo Michele Alboreto Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman International Circuit Now, we've got a lot of new guys on the block, so we've got opportunities to do something reall' nice. The procedure will be: 1a) Naming of a designer to do the first proposal - this designer then presents to the forum a track. 1b) Naming of graphical designer - the one who makes the graphic touch and makes the official final version 2) Designing procedure - the various posters come forth with their views and possible changes to the track - the track is debated, and a final track design is decided on. 3) Corner naming Now, for the previous three, Lustig, Pirenzo and Conrad (or was it CG?) did the first proposal. It'd probably be my turn by now, but i'm fairly short of time at the moment, so i suggest we pass it to Lustig - it's been a while since he did it. Only Lustig and Pirenzo have the necessary graphic talents to do the final graphic version, and based on a rotation scheme, i'd say it's Pirenzo's turn now . |

FINE - that'll be the proposal then, if everyone's fine with that!
Good idea Paul - nice to see it off the hands of "ye olde posse" for once . |

It should be a track not previously posted, but if i recall correctly, that one you haven't posted before.
So, everybody's cool with that? I suggest you cut off all the additional bits (paddock, entry roads etc), to leave ONLY the track line - that makes it far easier for us to edit . |

Sorry to be a PITA, but here it is edited as a PNG to avoid everyone having to do the de-blurring job on that JPEG.

Why dont we all make a corner or two each name the corner after yourself and then join the corners up.

Well, i'd say the non-crossover one is by far the better.
I had a go. I actually supposed the track was clockwise while editing, so i hope it is . I put in a pitlane. Altered the complex in the upper left corner to something a little more challenging. Tightened the upper rightmost corner slightly on the exit, and made a new infield afterwards, including a hairpin, and some challenging esses. So here is, MTR project IV v.TR1 |

I like the way this track's going... so I've made a few changes.
The most blatant one is that I've moved the start - the first corner was way too last-corner-ish and the second corner was well on the way to being first-corner-ish. To achieve this, I've lengthened two straights. The new last corner I've changed from a straightforward banked-180-degree turn to a Parabolica - just a matter of my personal taste really. The new first corner I've changed from a boring slow constant-radius corner to a proper La-Source-style hairpin. (Let's have some first corner first lap drama!) Because of this change, I've realigned the shortcut (which doubles as an escape road). I've also added a Tiergarten-esque (Zoo) chicane on the now extremely fun long back straight for the benefit of FIA nancies. At the other end of the shortcut, I've removed the silly chicane on the main circuit and tightened what is now Turn 18 to hopefully provide some room for overtaking. Following TR's edit, I've added a hairpin in the bottom-right corner, with some minor changes to the corners either side to make it flow better. It now is beginning to resemble Rouen down there. As AF has mentioned banking and camber, I've sketched in some rough thoughts on elevation. Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention - I think that second triple-apex job (20, then variant on my plan) would seem like the poor relation of the first one (14, 15, 16). I also don't like how short it would make the run-in to the esses. I've left it there as a late-1970s-style barbaric short-cut, but added a section west of there with Sudschliefe / Laguna Seca / Monaco / Bremgarten tendencies. Hope we're now getting somewhere... |

I'll have a look at it, too. However, are we going to work on Paul's proposal? I'm OK with that, but I'm not entirely sure everyone likes it.

Hmm... working at Paul's track is pretty difficult. The main shape isn't very good, I'm afraid. The track also resembles Fuji a bit too much, at least the first thre corners.

May I ask what could be wrong with it? I consider it quite cool. You tell me guys, I'm easy either way.

It's just different Lustig... it's not set to convention.
You can change the proposal if you want, you've been here longer than me. PAUL |

I agree with Lustig.
Going with the principle that we usually officially propose and appoint a designer, i propose Lustig. |
