*searches for word to use that isn't rude* Thanks for pointing that out, SBF. I can't believe I did that again!

#29: Paris Eiffel Tower

So, no other comments on the Arc de Triomphe track? Well, here's #29.

I like the Eiffel Tower track, but I felt it needed a few edits, as the track, looking at the satellite view, crosses over raised medians, uses a sidewalk, and heads down a one-lane road. Here is my version (with a new twisty thing going on at the end of the main straight and a pit road)...

I thought when I designed this track that the Eiffel Tower would be the perfect centrepiece. I don't know why, but I just thought it would! Oh, and mandretti, I actually think your track is better than mine!

I'm changing a couple of things from both of your designs. First, the circuit's missing a good rhythm section; both circuits are heavy on straights leading into acute corners. To change that, instead of the circuit following Avenue Rapp to Rue Saint-Dominique, it makes a left-right flick onto Rue Sédillot, then makes a left onto Rue Saint-Dominique at its terminus. The circuit continues on Avenue Bosquet to the Place de l'École Militaire and right onto Avenue de la Motte-Picquet.

Second of all, I hate the La Motte-Picquet/Grenelle section. The corner that turns onto Boulevard de Grenelle comes after too long of a straightaway to have no runoff, as your designs would necessitate. Instead, the circuit makes a left hand kink onto Rue de Laos, creating a less tight hairpin that goes under the Metro at Square Garibaldi and onto the opposite lane of Grenelle. On the opposite side of Grenelle the circuit continues straight to the major intersection past the Duplaix Metro station; there, a right-left chicane takes the circuit back under the Metro and along the usual flow of traffic. The circuit turns right onto Quai Branly before the Pont de Bir Hakeim: at first, the circuit follows the original right of way, but cuts onto the opposite side of the road after the Place de Kyoto. A right-left chicane puts the circuit back onto the usual flow of traffic on Branly and onto the pit straight, while the pit lane continues on the opposite end of Branly. Lap distance is 2.866 mi/4.612 km.

Alternatively, the circuit turns onto Rue Dupont des Loges from Avenue Rapp and follows that to Avenue Bosquet. Instead of turning directly onto Rue de Laos from Avenue de la Motte-Picquet, the circuit turns left onto Avenue de Suffren, right onto Rue de l'Abbé Roger Derry, then left onto Rue de Laos. Lap distance is 2.855 mi/4.594 km.

Or run the track down the driver's left hand side of Park Lane with a natural chicane onto South Carriage Drive.

Take down a few trees, and use that stretch for a pitlane.

Wasn't this the track that was touted to hold the london gp a few years back?

Yeah, probably, but I couldn't think of any better layout with the roads that I decided to use. But, apparently, in 1969, they proposed a track in London that went up The Mall and past Buckingham Palace, down Constitutuin Hill, and here is my 'revised' version of that proposal.

Zoom in on the 3 mile marker in Satellite mode.

You jump onto an elevated highway where there isn't a junction.

On the subject of which, maybe I should use the Hybrid mode instead? That would help me see where the streets go, and tall buildings wouldn't get in the way.
