I can't wait for Silverstone, got my tickets. Just been listening to Sam Birds Pod Cast on his web site www.sambird.com must be a new one as he talks about the car stalling at Valencia.
Really interesting interview with his Manager about sponsorship and the business side of GP2 and F1.
I had never really thought about Bird being an independent driver. Seems he is in a very strong position from what they say.

Get in nice and early and get a spot on the fence on the Hanger straight.....don't move or you loose the space. I think the gates open at 5am on Sunday. Good spot to see the cars stretch their legs.

The place is just alive at the GP. The fans really turn out in force. Some I am told camp for nearly a week. Good if it doesn't rain.

Not about these rounds in particular but check this from autosport: next years GP2 car!
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/85014

I'll be rooting for Bird this weekend, I missed the last few races due to not having eurosport for a bit, but will be at Silverstone this time

Presumably David Sears will need to put someone else in Kral's car for this weekend at least.

Any rumours as to who will drive yet?

Carroll, Parente or Soucek maybe?

I find it very odd that Filippi is taking Kral's place this weekend. Filippi was due to be racing in Auto GP this weekend, a series where he is challenging for the title. The way he left after the Asia Series made it very final as well.

Bird will be live on Radio Silverstone to give his thoughts on the races I'm told. Radio Silverstone good at getting interviews etc with the F1, I wonder if we will hear much from the GP2 drivers other than Bird. Couple of other Brits could be good.Chilton 0 points, Turvey only 6 points.Looks like we will all be rooting for Bird as the other Brits won't get a look at the podium. Last year a mate of mine won a paddock tour on Radio Silverstone, hope they do that prize again. How cool is that?

Why are GP2 introducing a new car that uses the same tubs as the current car when everyone is stuggling for budget? It means teams need to buy all new bodywork, get tubs modified for the larger head safety area.

Also with the aero being brought in line with current F1 cars does this mean GP2 will lose the ability to overtake?

Let's hope not! They should move the rules round so F1 is more like GP2. I think that overtaking will remain however because it's not all about aero. Gp2 cars have a much longer braking distance than F1 cars. More time spent on the brakes = more chance to slip past.

lets get back on the topic on these cars going racing. the pole man for this race is ART's Bianchi beats Maldonado and Vietores. Vietores will therefore drop to 13th (the ten place grid drop) meaning Clos goes up to 3rd.
