peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
would it be much quicker at the chase? i would imagine that it would see 300 in theory, but would lowndes take it that hard and would it not head a redline at a speed not that much greater

Hang on a minute, what happened to that saying "there's no substitute for cubic inches"?

Of course its been proven wrong before, but everyone now seems to be in agreement the statement is false?

That's if it gets to run at all. Forecast is for rain - which will not
only annoy Lowndes - but all the punters who have made arrangements
to be there to watch.

Let's hope mother nature is in a good mood that day???

No, that statement is 100% true.

Everyone that thinks otherwise is an idiot.

Ex. 2.6l turbo engine vs 5.0l N/A motor would be questionable in that aspect, but then go and turbocharge that 5.0l and you've just outclassed that 2.6l in straight horsepower and torque.

So just checking this is happening next tuesday? Any idea of times?.

Pity its not happening on a weekend as it would have been much easier to attend.

According to a source derived from another site the track will be closed
from 10am till 1:30pm. Both drivers will do laps in each car with a delay
in obviously changing over seats etc. Not sure how the potential rain will
interfere with this schedule though???

CAMS have said it won't be officially timed due to "safety concerns".

The event will run from 11am to 1pm with entry by gold coin donation

11.21am to 11.39am - Button will do 5 laps in the F1 car
11.44am to 11.54am - Lowndes will do 3 laps in the V8 Supercar

The two drivers will then swap cars

12.00pm - Button will do 4 laps in the V8 Supercar
12.22pm - Lowndes will do 5 laps in the F1

With rain forecast no-doubt things might change???

No speed limit for the F1 car lap

Sounds like it'll be an exciting lap :P

The article also has a full timetable in it if anyone wants it

There will be probably 10 seconds of vision at the end of the sports reports on the news tonight and a 5 minute fluff piece somewere in the GP coverage this weekend.

Motorsport won't get decent coverage in this country until our drivers start supplying drugs to 17 year old girls in motel rooms, glassing their girlfriends and beating up guys in the line at Maccas because that's what our finest sportsmen do.

apparently CL reported a greasy track which is understandable given it's had no running on it.

i read on another forum the V8 is on softs is this true?

The press release there says 1:48, but either way, my 1:47.333 prediction has me rather stoked to be honest.

What a great little event!

I don't know what the officilal crowd was but there was ten times more people there than what I thought there would be.
Hey, if the Mount can pull that many people to watch just two cars do a handful of laps, imagine the crowd that would turn up for a full F1 round! Powers to be, wake up, spend the money to bring the Mount up to scratch to satisfy the safety concerns of the F1 organisers instead of wasting money cutting up the Mount to put in a "kiddies track".

PS, just heard the Mayor on the radio say the crowd was around 15,000 -20,000.

Amazing!!!
