Another year with an S60 (sans works support/funding) powered by Volvo is a scenario at GRM...

But 2018 will be very different.. for everyone..

It is probably a very crass analogy but I liken this to having sex with someone who said no beforehand and hoping they change their mind...

A shotgun wedding..

The real issue is the level of other commercial support likely required to replace the Volvo input, especially if GRM have to pay for engines in 2017.

WP in the same boat, they are suddenly $2m a year out.

Sadly I suspect with this decision that the writing is on the wall with HSV as well.

Could this see Lowndes gain a team mate with the increased Holden funding adding a forth car to the mix??

I have to be honest here and suggest that this strategy has to represent an overall decrease in Holden's total spend compared to the current arrangement.

So while it is money moved from HRT to 888, I wonder whether it is actually more money for 888 overall.

I'm guessing less. Giving 888 sole rights for Holden IP to sell to other teams and HRT branding for merchandise sales was probably the deal sweetner.

Knowing Roland he'll turn it into a goldmine.

That was my initial reading too, but Ryan was saying different in his release.

Mind you, I've been trying to double guess the HSV future for over a year already and still cant find a favourable solution.

Living in hope, expecting nothing good.

Back to Japan I'm guessing. He'll take a pay cut but foreign drivers are still well paid in Japanese Super GT.

It's not too far to commute every few weeks for a race, if he wants to remain living here.

Wayne Gardner did it for a while after winding up his V8 team.

Meantime, Mr Phelps suggested in today's Sunday Telegraph that Supercar will have 2 'big' announcements to come very soon.

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
the above linked article suggest JC is the higher priority to keep.

GT might be moving on

If GT stays, JC will go.

I'm not sure JC will want to go through another stint in a car developed around GT.

Another car maker highly unlikely but probably an announcement of the Homebush replacement and an Asian race for next year.
