Eddie Jordan said on an interview that he had his scouts looking for drivers in the US....not only in CART or the IRL but in lower categories as well. And he said that he was particularly excited about 2 drivers....he didn't mention any names but I wonder.....who could they be??

And this mystery American who he will suddenly pull out of a hat, and who will be better than Irvine or Burti, is called...?

Andretti ? hmmm... hardly!
Unser ? not interested last time
Vasser ? erm... nope

erm, that's it isn't it ? Jeff Gordon perhaps ?!

I talked to them briefly and we discussed some numbers. I'm supposed to call Eddie in a few days to arrange a test drive.

Oh, how could I forget about Mr Neck ? My sincere apologies for the oversight, Redneck, and apologies too to botsquad for thinking that you'd posted a topic which was a load of hogwash!

Reddy, will you be receiving backing from "Tennessee Moonshine" and the Rickets Foundation?

On a more serious note, I'm gonna
keep on shouting Alex Gurney's name until someone notices.

my my. such outrage at the suggestion.

well perhaps it would be hard to find an american as fast as a guy starts every race in the 7th row.

and then. maybe not.

the line of thinking (ie: guessing) is this howerver.

ford has to have a better reason for making rahal the boss then making eddie a better driver.

rahal would not go into f1 without a plan.

he's a businessman.

Are we talking about the same Irvine who finished runner up in the championship last term ? hmmm... I can see that he would become a shyte driver overnight and need to be replaced by a young rookie... makes perfect sense. As you say, Rahal has his head screwed on - he'll not bring an American driver in just for the sake of it - if he can find an American driver who is better than either of his two drivers, he'll sign him up - just as he would if any other top European driver came along and wanted to talk contracts with him...

sir frank weighs in:

It'll happen. "I'm sure in America there are talented, driven, desperate, intense young American men. It just depends if they get a break. Having a grand prix should make it easier for them to raise money."

No, no, no!

How about an America who actually is winning races in Europe! Phillip Giebler, that's who. Watch him test the Stewart (Jaguar) F3 car soon...He is winning in the french F3 Class B championship. Paul; Edwards may also get a test. He too, has won races in Europe; FFords, F.Renault, Palmer Audi & Opel-Lotus.
Gurney will go to champcars with his dad in a few years

Rahal fill a Jaguar seat with a Yank!! In the 'American' series as a team (Ford) owner he canned an American and currently has an Italian and Swede in the seats. Cogitate!
