Michelin invent the Tweel
Michelin re-invent the tyre wheel combination with a flexible wheel and an airless tyre. Seems a good idea, until some kids fill your tyres with stones etc.
They have been tested on various vehicles including an Audi A4. TWEEL |

Wont the real things have side walls? Just a fancy demo/promo style?

Not sure. All the demonstration versions on various different vehicles have no side walls. It would add weight and i suppose there would be no way of checking that the spokes were intact and undamaged.

There was something on Radio 4 about that. I couldn't quite picture it. Now I can and it _needs_ sidewalls...
