Does anyone out there know where he is ???? He raced Brabhams late 60s early 70s.

Came from Stafford or somewhere nearby.
Not sure that Barker was his full name, think it was a double-barrelled thing that he contracted. Will try and confirm this in my notes at the w/end.

Richard Dickinson-Barker, I believe. Always wondered what happened to him, after he made the front pages of daily papers when his car was engulfed in flames at Crystal Palace.

Is this the same Dick Barker who also used to compete in FF1600 in the late 60's/early 70's? The same guy my dad knew as "dangerous Dick" ?

Late '60s early 70s would be dead right for Barker in FF1600
Think he was quick, but erratic.

LOts of stuff about Dick in "the other place" aka Atlas TNF. Just search for a thread called "Dick Barker driving Alexis mk15 Formula Ford".

Steve Wilkinson is a back marker
FF1600 at Oulton Park

I first saw Dick Barker in a Yellow FF1600 Alexis Mk15 at Oulton Park on 20th September 1969. The race had to be restarted due to a shunt before the first corner. In the restarted race Dick took a fine third place. He had been entered back in April for an FF1600 race at Oulton but non-started.

Just aquired a property in Wales that must have some connection to Dick Barker as letters and documents found in garage support his race place for third at Oulton and receipt for price money .It seems he headed something called Dick Barker Racing consultants . Some of the letter addresses are Church cottage Staffs

I seem to recall him racing in an F2 race at Crystal Palace, crashed at North Tower. The car caught fire and as he was not wearing gloves did not want to put his hands in to the flames to release crutch straps!

Looked quite nasty.

Thankfully marshals quickly on the scene.

No idea where he is now.

Veggie

I must confess to being a young incident marshal at post 4 ( North Tower) at Crystal Palace. Not only that , I have a couple of photos from daily papers showing me as one the marshals helping put out Dick's overalls. He is on the track at my feet .....his only injuries, I believe, were burnt ankles as his socks were nylon!!
The car went off heavily at my feet and the brake fluid caught fire on hot brake discs. There were lots of impacts at that first corner as the run off was all of 2 feet! It was there I meet the real Lord Percy of Percy as a fellow marshal emerging from the azaleas on the infield....and we have been friends and marshalled together ever since, the last being this Saturday at Combe!!

I used to help mechanic for Dick as I worked for his main sponsor when he raced the Alexis,he owned a lumber business in Eccleshall then he later got involved with a lady name Zoe Randall.I remember one meeting at Oulton when he was racing the Brabham,he went off and hit a bush and he said to Alex Moss who i helped "Alex I tried everything but the brakes"Alex was furious
