Aha. Just found a meeting where I wangled a photographers pass, the Martini International at Silverstone on 17/05/69.
So here are some pics from the inside at Copse, firstly Chris Craft leading Pat Mannion and Alec Poole...

Fred Scatley should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I may be wrong but the photographer who used to wear a silver jacket was Brian Kreiski (I am not sure about the spelling) he started covering motor racing about the same time as I did in the mid 60,s. I have an idea he was killed in a light plane crash at Blackbush airfield a few years ago

Yes, Brian Kreisky was sadly killed in the air crash just before Christmas a couple of years ago.
I remember as a lad in the 60s, going along with my father who was a mechanic on special saloons, Brian would always come around selling the snaps he had taken. He was also the first to film / video races in the late 60s / 70s. He then started his succesful company Videovision. They were responsible for (among others) the great video 'In-Car 956'. In the late 70s he ran the British Aurora F1 team Melchester Racing using Tyrrell 008s.

Just to prove it wasn't just John Rhodes who could set up a spectacular corner, here is Dave Morgan at Old Hall, Oulton Park on 26th August '67. He may look as though he has lost it, but this is how he took the corner lap after lap!

As there are plenty of pics from Copse here, just thought I'd add one from back up the other end of the straight. It was awesome (NASCAR phrase) to see any car go through there without lifting, but particularly Ronnie Peterson. Still, this is a club racing thread so this one from the '69 British Grand Prix meeting shouldn't be here - sorry!
The Broadspeed Escorts feature here, and they were often seen in close company wherever the raced.

Thanks for posting these DaveM - wonderful!
I was at the other end of the circuit that day - at Stowe.
I remember a Mini going wide ( like in your pic) going through a small gap in the outside low brick wall at circuit edge, along the old tarmac infront of the stands and then rejoining the track through another gap! I think some of the bricks had been removed as a run-off. Good job too.
Yes, Woodcote was a fantastic corner. I still have a very strong memory of an expectant crowd waiting for Ronnie to appear in the JPS because you just knew with him, it would be so very spectacular, lap after lap.

Nice story Andrew!
The old 1 litre F3 screamers were also verrry spectacular round Silverstone weren't they - all in one slipstreaming line until someone made a mistake, then chaos!

Talking of slim run off areas, Crystal Palace had some positively anorexic ones, as illustrated by Les Nash busily DNFing.

How sideways can a Falcon get without actually spinning...?
Well, quite a long way as this shows. Oil flag already waving in the background, hence the slide, and although the marshal is starting to wave the yellow there was a masterly recovery and no spin. This was no doubt a relief to Mike Davies in a Viva who is right behind the Falcon.
Crystal Palace again - but can anyone identify the driver? I know because I recorded it at the time, but here's a chance for you to show off your knowledge (and age).
If you like the idea we could start a quiz thread, what do you think Andrew?

An easy shot to get because he held it at exactly the same angle almost every lap! Whatever happened to Garry?

Well done Andrew! Terry Sanger it is. He specialised in big banger saloons - I remember seeing him at Mallory back in the mid sixties in a Cortina with enormous tyres. A bit like a miniature Bigfoot.

DaveM - There is a clip of Terry Sanger in the V8 Cortina you mentioned on the video 'Motor Racing 1960's style - 1960&67',from Brands.
This was in 67 then I think the same car was raced by Brian Bolton in 68/69.
Who are those mini racers at the Palace? Looks like Gordon Spice or Steve Neal on the left, possibly John Handley on right?

Terry sanger not only drove big bangers, i remember, in the beginning of his career he raced a very fragile plywood Fastback Marcos, he competed with it at the 1000km and 500km at the Ring in 1965 (with Tim Lalonde), and also lots of events on English tracks.
Does anybody has a picture of Terry in his fastback?
I saw him at the Ring two years ago, sharing the steering-wheel in a 300km race on the northern loop in a Lancia Aurelia. So he returned to fragile technics.
Does anybody know, what he is doing today?

You know your stuff Andrew. Steve Neal and John Handley. Neal's Britax team-mate Gordon Spice won the race with Chris Craft in a Broadspeed Escort 2nd, Handley 3rd, Rhodes 4th and Neal 5th. Spice had a really laid back driving style and passed the wheel through his hands in true Highway Code fashion whereas the others were mostly all arms and elbows - so here's an arms & elbows shot of Neal and Rhodes at the Mallory hairpin.

that's great guys, the colour shot appears to be with a longer lens, but that is pretty neat that the two of you were very near to each other. In the colour shot, it is neat to see that the duct tape on the headlights even matches up each car's colour scheme.

cheers from a visually minded Canadian (born in '63 and so has a limited knowledge of 60's sedan stuff)
