Note that the Regularity Tour still includes daily on road stages against oncomming traffic.I have stopped doing these as I think it dangerous and some local will get hurt if people continue to do them. There were a few near misses last year .One or two in very quiet areas would be OK.How do you find quiet ares at end of Harvest?
.Doing Tour Auto and the new Gaastad Rally which is early September. Tour Britannia is superb for Comp Section and can be compared with the top Tours of Europe.Reduce the open road stages and I would return but I am probably old and in the minority so hope you all have a good time as Fred and Hailey put on a good show and I know he reads this stuff.Dam,forgotten to mention Alec! |

Thanks John. The road regularities next year will only be on wide "yellows", i.e. roads at least two cars' width. Also plan that they should be in open countryside, the Yorkshire Dales spring to mind..... And remember we never set an average over 30 mph, and often considerably less.
Hope we will see you then (and Jez, and Mags, and Gareth and and and....) Fred |

A combined harvester is over one lane wide and that happened a few times this year. They have more reason to be on these local roads than rally cars on competive regularity sections and no road speed on a regularity should exceed 45 Kph.You will see Jez and Mags but not me.We may use 914/6 in Comp section,or sell it. As alternative 904 is due to go to Laguna .Its the year of the Porsche

It was about 1974 or 75. Good fun quizes. Then John went off and made some money for 25 years while I did some rallies before we met again. Each of us wishes he had done what the other did!

Seems we have to come mob handed as long as that nice Mr Wills doesn't stall with messed up plugs on the grid.

To put the record straight, I did not stall. The master switch broke and as I pulled away from the start line, all power in the car died. Not a lot I could do then but sit and hope everybody would navigate around me. Wishful thinking! |

Great news Fred. I've got unfinished business with the TB and really hope to be back with the Nash if work allows. It would be great to get some seriously hot pre-war cars in to the fray if nothing else just for the entertainment value. I will try to encourage some new entrants. PBE.

The general thoughts on Tour Espania was that pre war cars did not mix well in Competition unless having one of the Top Drivers. There are the odd drivers that can do it safely but not some of the pre war punters that are not used to moderns and have only experience is VSCC type racers. One very well known TB entrant expressed his concerns forceably.Equally the majority of the field have no experience of pre war cars and some tend to get quite excited when being closed down by an old bag of bolts.

Well, it does start at Silverstone and come back there Monday evening, then up north as JR says. And that's what the majority of our 2008 competitors told us to do....

I understand that and it is best for the competition if thats what the competitors want, but i found it really interesting when they came back to Combe abbey at the end of a day.
