Race 17 - Historic Road Sports

The final race of the weekend proved to be an entertaining and fitting finale.

Mike Eagles (car 15, Milano GT Mk1), who would eventually finish third, led for the first few laps before being passed by the Lotus Elan of Rachel and Matthew Watts (car 50) which then led for the middle section of the race, before tailing off and finishing seventh.

Having dropped to fifth on Lap 1 the Triumph TR4 of Karl Wetherell and Mark Campbell (car 10) soon got back into contention for a podium finish, gradually closing in on the then leader (Jim Grant, car 25, Lotus Elan), with the Triumph getting past three laps from the end to take the flag, leaving Jim Grant to take second less than two seconds behind.

Final few photos from this race (and for the event from me). Hope they have been useful - if anyone wants anything not shown please ask as I may have it.

Well done Gary, brilliant pics and superb race reports- thanks!

You've certainly done your bit to get the HSCC back again.

Thanks Mike. It was a great meeting and anything that we can do locally to support a decision to get the HSCC back has got to be tried. As for the race reports - I don't think they compare to John Turner's reports but I haven't yet figured out how to listen to the comentary, watch the race, take photos and make the odd note! Will be at the Gold Cup for more photo practice at least. Thanks again, Gary.

Just like to add my thanks to all who posted the photos and race reports.

I would certainly race at this circuit in the future,i heard one competitor say it was better than the silverstone classic meeting. The folks attending were really friendly and interested in the race cars, the military vehicle folk were a source of much amusement for me.You dont very often have WW2 tanks and halftracks belting through the paddock!

Well done to all who organised everything and made it a super weekend.

I really hope that this event can establish itself at Croft. I could only attend the Saturday, but I have to say it was the most enjoyable day of motorsport I have had in ages.

I've a full gallery of photographs on my website for those that are interested: -

Cheers,

Simon.
