Sergio Rinland going to Arrows.......
Sergio Rinland will be working at Arrows from now on, the 49 year old Argentinian designed this years Sauber.(taken from a dutch newspaper).
Well, if Rinland can get some of his ideas into the A23(wich is already under development by Nicolo Petrucci, ex Ferrari) Arrows probably has a very good(Cosworth powered) car next year...... |

Sergio Rinland, the man behind this season's sensational Sauber C20 has reportedly signed a deal with the Arrows team.
Rinland, 49, parted company with the Sauber team at the start of the 2001 season under circumstances which remain unexplained. The Argentine designed the C20 which has been driven by Nick Heidfeld and Kimi Räikkönen to brand new heights as the Swiss team sits fourth in the constructors' championship with 20 points - its best ever performance. Rinland has curiously spent most of 2001 without a job, despite putting together one of the better cars on the grid. However, that is set to change this weekend as the Arrows team are expected to formally announce that Rinland will become their new Technical Director. Rinland has worked in Formula One for almost twenty years including time spent at Brabham, Williams and Benetton and even a brief sejour in America to design an Indycar in the mid 90s. Walkinshaw finally seems to be assembling the team he has threatened to gather. Arrows flattered with the SuperTech last year. The combo of Rinland, Cosworth and Verstappen may lead to some surprises in 2002. Now, if they sign Frentzen, they're set.

A Cosworth engine and Jos Verstappen are hardly going to be the keys to success for Arrows...

a Factory Cosworth(not that crappy engine Minardi uses), The designer that designed this years Sauber C20(plus an ex Ferrari employee), AND the driver with the most overtaking manouvres in f1 this and last year. You'd wish that Minardi had those...... |

But Arrows are looking good for next year. They'll have a very talented designer, they'll have the same spec. Cosworth that Jaguar use and they'll have Jos the Boss, who seems to be maturing this year. Things look good for Arrows in 2002. |

I don't think Jos has matured this year - indeed, he seems to have lost the plot a little. There has been something distinctly lacking from his performances this season. The speculation will continue until March 2002 - when Arrows, Jaguar, Minardi, Prost and Toyota begin their scrap. It's going to be biiiiiig... |

Thumbs up for Sergio. He really desrved it, he is a great designer, wellk not as good as Mr. Newey, but he knows how to make a car work. I know him a bit more than most of you because he has been invited as a commentator to several GP this years at the network which broadcasts the F1 in my country (PSN). He may do some good changes in that arrows car for the 2002 season, we'll just have to wait.

That 'factory' Cosworth engine, I am sure will still be slightly crappy, as u so eloquently put it steve. Plus I still cannot believe you are going to get equal treatment from Jaguar. And Jos Verstappen? No thank you. I would rather have someone who can drive a mature practice session, followed by a quick qualifying, and a solid, sensible performance in the race on properly filled fuel tanks. Don't you wish Arrows had that? |

People always talk about Arrows running low fuel and simply forget the have 50-60 bhp less (that even's thing up)
and Alesi and Raikkonen where also on a 2 stop strategy in Monza, stil Jos managed to stay ahead for a fair amout of laps...... |
