DNQ should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hello, I haven't posted on the rallying forum before (I usually post on the f1 and touring car fourm). Anyway, I to introduce my self to the rally forum, I would like to ask what your favourite current WRC is. I love the Peugeot's and the Ford Focus. Which car is your fav?

I'm a big fan of the Subaru Impreza, the evo Lancer comes second for me.

I'd have to say of the current crop the Ford Focus. Just wish Ford Australia would wake up and sell it here...and the new Mondeo. Ford have no cars between Laser and Falcon and the Ka is a waste where it is placed, but this isn't the forum to complain about this.

As I was saying Ford Focus.

Mine would have to be either a:

Ford Focus WRC or,
Peugeot 206 WRC.

There the *best* two cars in the championship. I know the Subarus and Mitsibushis are good, but the other choices are a Skoda, Hyundai - who would say they are desirable?

For me it has to be the Focus, but the Lancer has to be a close runner-up. Form on the dirt and mud of the WRC calendar will reverse this, so it's one-all.

As for the rest, then the 206 is up there and I really admire Skoda for what they're doing out there. I am also already missing SEAT, as the Cordoba in Repsol colours was the best looking car from just about any tin top competition.

Subaru's just plain shyte...

Off topic again, elephino, are you saying that Ford still hasn't released the Focus back home?! I remember a pre-production model being shown at the Brisbane show back in 1999!! Wake up, al-bloody-right...

Nope, no Focus and there won't be unless Ford build it in Asia.

In 1999 they even had one (probably same as at Bris show) at Rally Australia and I asked some Ford guy (wish I could remember his name) if they were bringing it out and they said it was under evaluation but probably....seems he was wrong, but it is a money thing.

But it would only cost a few thousand more than a 2L Laser (which is coming out any day now) and would be a better car and probably sell better.

So they're keeping on with the 323 look-alike, then? Bloody mad, they is. Then again, Ford Australia did produce the AU Falcon, didn't they...

I was having some fun going around test driving cars (as you do) and went to Ford to look at the Laser R (only 1.8)...I took one look inside and left. Mazda 323 Astina SP20 is much better despite being the same car. I've never undersood how two cars made in the same factory to almost identical specs can be so different in quality.

3. Subaru Impreza

I actually quite like the Impreza, and the Lancer ties it at the top. The rest don't do much for me at all,

I guess the Focus usually looks OK at the start of a rally, although given the way he usually redesigns it mid-rally, the flying (literally) Scotsman McRae obviously disagrees with me. Although I could say the same about the Scooby and Petter Solberg...

Obviously from the design it has to be the Focus and the 206. Especially when your fav (C.McRae) drives a Focus.
But I still love the good old Impreza. Never liked the Lancer...

Peugeot by far. Don't like new Impreza, never have liked Focus,... maybe Citroen would be second?

The Xsara because Puegeot chose the weird looking 206 rather than the lovely 306 shell, I know they are stopping the 306 this year.

The new Impreza is just so ugly, I'd rather have an Octavia which is actually a nice looking motor.

The new MG looks pretty good too.

The 206 for me. Its the best looking & sounding car since the 205 T16. The sound the antilag makes as it leaves the line is mind blowing ,scary even. Me thinks 4 door family cars should be banned from rallying (Mitsubishi Subaru). I'll have to wait till this years rally NZ to see if i like the Xsara better
