Is the link any more than:
Handy ran a Toyota - Austin joined Handy - Handy became HMS - HMS allowed Austin to fulfil his dream of racing an Alfa - The Alfa wasn't that good - HMS/Austin don't know what car they should use?

And the reason he tested the Alfa mid season was with a view to returning in 2020

No. He's been working for Speedworks on race weekends.

Speedworks boss Christian Dick is Rob Austin's brother-in-law. Austin is 'Brand Ambassador' (whatever that means!) for a company that also sponsors Speedworks.

That's why they have been working together but I don't think it means we will see Austin in a second Speedworks Toyota next year.

This sounds like the more sensible version.

Someone who has raced in BTCC, and is still talking about driving again in 2020 in the HMS Racing Alfa, would probably be seen at meetings regularly.

If same person has a link to one of the team's sponsors, where he also has a family connection, then that would probably be the garage they'd gravitate towards.

Apologies, I was thinking Austin was Brand Ambassador (couldn't think of the title that early this morning) for Speedworks themselves rather than a mutual sponsor.

Surely if we do see him back it'll be in the HMS Alfa?

I have to say Senna Proctor's pace has really picked up the last couple of meetings. He's finally gotten closer to Sutton in qualifying and as a result is nearer the front now
