I have to say though Mike, that is one very nice looking Escort.

Thanks, will do, and don't worry - literally the only thing I know about football is that Ipswich are the enemy

hmmmmmmm - maybe you should buy an abacus for christmas Simon ?

It was twice, why do I know, once it was me and secong time my old man I don't know what was more red my old mans face or the flag itself. Problem was we'd had every corner of the car off with broken rear wheel studs and shattered front discs, we came in from quali with two wheels falling off the car, once we'd thrown it back together - very much thanks to some sterling work from our mechanic, we did the bare minimum to quali for the Mini race and then just got out in the nick of time for the Top Hat. Lets say - going round Corum was certainly an adventure and under braking the car had become unstable at the back end, not sure the brake balance was correct, nothing like the handling at Mallory in October - but ho hum that Motor Racing !!!

Aint that the truth- and don't worry- car travels in covered trailer if have to pass through Suffolk And great pic- start 'em young, I say!

Thanks all for the car compliments. Nice that we are just about on the pace of the other Gp2 cars now- certainly Mark W and Laki C are quick drivers in Escorts so am chuffed to be close to them.

Claire, sounds like I'm good for an Escort entry into 6hr race after all

Oh, and relieved to see in that pic still have just about 2 wheels on track

Terence- if I was rallying definitely would have mole grips with me- thought in racing could give all that up!

AMR 107E looks wrong

I wish I'd built the one I was offered a couple of years ago.

Mikes Escort is lovely, although I prefer 13" rims and the 550 M's look

Some of my pictures. Great meeting!

Vince Woodman's 1974 Cologne Capri and John Young's BMW CSL in the 'Stars of the 70s' race

'Stars of the 70s' field, just like a good old fashioned special saloon race!

Chris Scragg's ex-Broadspeed 1976 Jaguar XJ12 Coupe

Mark Wright's 2-litre Escort, making a meal of Russell

Mike Bell's RS1600 painted in 1973 Zakspeed livery

Winner of the 'Stars of the 70s' race, Mike Wrigley's BDA powered Escort

Austins display different cornering techniques in the 'Oldies but Goldies' event

As does Graham Love's Jaguar Mk7

Simon's Turner, no idea who is driving here

Rowan Atkinson out for fun in the 'Top Hat' Pre '66 saloon race

A mixed bunch approach Russell

Richard Frankel had the tail out in both his Alfa GTA and also in his
1958 Guilietta in the '50s race. Brought back childhood memories of seeing Jochen Rindt at Snett in an Alfa in '66

Henry Mann in family liveried Cortina

John Burton's XK120 in the 'Cloth Cap' race

Whizzo Williams, outings in this Jaguar and in the pre-66 Mini race

Burton's XK120 leads an E-type in the 'Cloth Cap'

Left hand drive Mini of Joey Greenan

The Mini race also had a few Imp entries to bolster the thin field.

Mike, I havent got a problem with the Escort as an entry, its those tecky lot that dot the i's and cross the t's that decide. It certainly "enters into the spirit of the event" if you ask me, but then again, I am bias because I love Mk 1 escorts so I say enter it as well as the porky!!!

Big wheel arches.....so what! (thats me speaking....not the 360 Motor Racing Club)

Simon seemed a good buzz in the paddock, I guess the weather helped, what made it feel like the "old" Top Hat days?

Andrew, great pictures, where did you get the Imp shot, its just great! But then I am biased, my father raced them "back in the day"!

Yes weather helped but I dont know if its just that the paddock at Snett (like Combe) is quite intimate but there seemed to be a good "Clubbie" feel to the event rather than loads of Winnebago's and artics

Newbie Question Alert! What's a reasonable number of pics to post here? I took over 300 and have whittled them down to what I think are the best ones, but I'm still left with about 50! Don't want to overwhelm the thread and annoy everyone, so maybe I should try and pick out a handful and throw the rest up on 'bucket or somewhere?

Thanks. That's at the apex of Riches. Head on shots are no good from there from now on, MSV have in the last week removed the two layer armco that went further around the corner, it allowed good drifting shots into the apex, you can't get any further around the apex anymore, I shot that Imp from the very end of the armco as it is now. Shame. I didn't catch Simon Hadfield from there either, giving me the two fingured salute from his Mini, as he told me he had afterwards! Thanks Simon!

I must say, as a lowly spectator who likes to (politely and respectfully) poke about where other spectators don't dare go, this was the friendliest and smiliest event I've been to in a long time.

As well as all the other maladies the starter motor stopped working on the way to the grid, so that's why the car was stuck where it was unfortunately - would have just needed a little nudge from the Marshalls and could have got moving very quickly, but understand the car was probably in the most dangerous part of the whole track
