RaceTime should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Don't heave that sigh of relief just yet - latest on the rumour mill is that in the name of safety all cars will be limited to max of 180 km/h - wait till Bathurst!

Well actually, you wouldn't. The Trucks are limited to 160 km/h for safety, but they still manage 65s around Lakeside. A brand new SS Commodore however, won't get under 70s, no matter who drives it.

G'day David

It was of course not a serious statement, but I for one would hang up my Racing cap if it ever happened , which of course I will bet my SS that it don't

G'day Mick, welcome to the fun!

I'm sure this is just a silly rumour, there is no way they could possibly bring in such a rule and not slashg crowd figures overnight.

BTW it's great to see another HRT fan here. Us Holden nuts are way outnumbered.

G'day David

I thought it looked like fun when I started reading it, seems like a lot of blokes here with my sense of humour .

As for Holden nuts bein outnumbered, that's no problem, we win most of the races and thats what count's

Another rumour? Never - I actually heard it on good authority from a couple of guys smoking a joint and blowing the smoke into Craig Lowndes garage on the weekend - they were mumbling something like 'Ay mon! If con effect Peta 'Ills It con effect dude Lowndes as well mon!'

Anyway - you're right - Holden needs all the help it can get

I think you better check your own site , the Holdens don't need any help, but Ford can use all its getting and then some, next they will have the Holden's pulling a trailer just do a Ford can win a championship

Actually a 180km/h speed limit would be a fantastic idea- it was solve the carnage problem. The drivers would depress a button on the steering wheel, and thus would be able to concentrate fully on the road ahead

Another brilliant idea has entered my confussed head.

In the name of entertainment and strategy, all cars will be limited to 180km/h, but they will also be fitted with a smallish nitrous bottle. Thus it will become a cunning race of tactics as to when drivers use up their 'go'.

Also in the longer races there can be nitrous refills.

Everything is finally falling into place, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's interesting to hear the racer's using the argument that it's safer to keep both eyes on the road, rather than to keep one on the dashboard. I wonder how long it will take before the powers that be consider that argument in the context of road driving.

I know for sure when you've constantly got one eye on the speedo, trying to avoid the Nazi death squads with their speed cameras etc. it's not as safe as when you concentrate fully on the road ahead. I wonder if cars will one day be equipped with adjustable speed limiters on the dashboard. I know we have cruise control, but it has many limitations.

well why couldnt one of those fancy head up displays be used??

I did vote for the limiter thing and think its a great idea..but what about head up display...ive never used it or even seen it used for that matter but it makes sense really (well a tad more sense then crash's nitrus bottle plan)

can it be turned on and off ???
so that the driver presses one button on the entrance of the pits to activate it and then turns it off exiting the pits.

and as for 180kph ...BAH HUMBUG to that..they would all fall alseep down conrod and that cant be good !!!!

There are limitations with head up displays. They still require you to refocus your eyes because of the much shorter focal length, this probably requires as much time and effort and therefore concentration as flicking down to look at the dash. Also head up displays struggle with varying light conditions, driving into sun, driving in shadows etc.

The drivers can enable or disable the speed limiter at the touch of a button.
