GTLM of TUSC is a more competitive championship than WEC, aston received a lot of bop helps at daytona, but their fail simply shown the truth: the vantage GTE is an old and uncompetitive car that can survive in WEC only because of bop help (weigth brake, giant rear wing, restrictors increase, larger fuel tank) and bop restrictions to porsche (weight ballast) and ferrari (smaller fuel tank).

I'm starting to wonder if that is why Fred Makowiecki was so keen to jump ship to the Porsche program.

Porsche probably pay more Aston is a struggling company right now. Its sad to see it. Their next car should be based off the Vanquish imo. The Vantage maybe will get a new chassis but that seems far off with their struggles of finance. Corvette otoh, theyre looking sharp. Love the new C7.R I think its the best looking Vette yet! Could you imagine the speed if it was 1200kg like the Vantage?

That being said, I find the C7R carries the black sills better than some others do. |

He holds the GTE lap record in that Aston at Le Mans. Only man ever under 3:55 (even with BOP help-No teammates could touch his time). However I think that accident late in the race last year wasn't so easily forgotten.

So sales figures for this 7th Generation corvette are unreal and the Z06 isn't even out yet. I don't see this program going any were any time soon.
I think Corvette will be in the WEC next year for sure because the appeal for the car is real and surely the ROI from the C7R or just plain profits can support the program. It's only the details that are unknown to us right now. |

to me larbre will be in WEC 2014 with a C7.R (class gtam). About viper, is very unlikely, maybe only if the private team will be backed officially by SRT.

Hot from Indy for number freaks - 002 & 003 running today. The news? 001 MIGHT run at Austin with a third driver. The sources? Dan Binks mentioned it when I asked if 001 had ever raced. Gary Pratt confirmed MAYBE.
For number fanatics: one of the two C7.R display cars has a C6GT number! More later...... |

If they can run three cars in one weekend why not run the third in WEC? I'm sure the fans would love it.

Somewhat interesting that I think for the first time ever it was the GM DP front that got the headlines on Corvette Racing website, while the factory team was pushed backside... weird

Yes but the "Corvette" DPs have won or been on the podium before while Corvette Racing has not and yet they never got the big headlines
It's just strange to have Corvette Racing related news as secondary on Corvette Racing website. You would expect that from general GM PR press release but not really there |

Corvette Racing comes 7th and 8th at Sebring while Action Express takes podium - zero mention of DP Corvette Racing wins LB-Laguna-Glen-Mosport while Spirit of Daytona wins one race and three additional Spirit/ACS podiums - DP mentioned at Mosport but otherwise not a word And now this So I think it's their recent policy to start marketing the DP programme as well on Corvette Racing environment, which is strange |
