This is my thinking, didn't mean he didn't deserve to continue in the Audi after this year. I just think he'll be stepping up to the Civic.

At the risk of being labelled a pedant.... the announcement was from Volkswagen, not from the whole VAG group.

Nowhere in their press release does it say they are out of all non-electric motorsport as has been widely report, just that they are focusing on electric.

Depends what you mean by "out of" I suppose. They're not making any new race or rally IC cars but will produce spares parts for them for the "long term".

Unless the driver is paid, I can't see a team financing damage repairs themselves, that would be financial suicide. Costs could be included up front for the drive or taken on an as and when basis.

They are making new cars. The announcement was basically marketing bullshit for the mainstream media. "Look how green and eco friendly we are. We care for the environment." Which is utter BS as VAG has cheated emissions more comprehensively than all other auto makers.

Rant over, the point is no factory cars. That's all. If you want a brand new build Polo for rallying they'll build you one. If you are Sebastian Loeb they'll supply you with spares for your existing cars ad infinitum should you still run them. Or maybe you'll just run the shiny new Seat/Cupra next year that is a Golf in a sharper suit. Or ditto the Audi A3.

VAG should be a political party, they've got the spin doctors for it!

Been told it's a done deal, likely to have Cook as his teammate as Smiley hasn't got the money since Norlin left, but could run a 3rd car if TBL and finding is available.
