RBR adds to technical team.

RBR has signed Mark Smith, formerly of Jordan (briefly) and Reanult as it's deputy technical director. It was widely expected that Smith would link up with Mike Gascoyne at Toyota and reform the partnership from their days at Renault.

Good move from RBR.

From. www.autosport.com

Red Bull Racing launching a challenge on the front-running teams this year when the outfit confirmed that Mark Smith had joined it as its deputy technical director, as autosport.com exclusively revealed earlier this month.

Smith, who has helped design recent race-winning cars for Renault, joins RBR after a brief spell at Jordan – which he left following the takeover of the team by Midland earlier this year.

RBR has also announced that Anton Stipinovich will join it as its new head of development, following spells at Ferrari in McLaren.

So he didn't go to Toyota then!

That is a good move, it shows it was a bit unfair to consider that all RBR was paint their trucks Discussed here: http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65837

Generally, the fact that RBR are employing should help steady the ship.

Two very good signings for Red Bull.

This is a team who are serious about F1 in a way Jaguar never was.

The ship was doing pretty well already - good driver line-up and strong testing times. Adding someone like Smith is good for them in many ways, and is surely another sign that they will make an immediate impact.

You have to ask, why didn't Williams snap him up?

Jaguar were serious, just often misdirected and underfunded.

The Jaguar employees were serious, Ford Motor Company wasn't, once they realised it would take longer and cost more than the expected.

To be fair to Jaguar, they did try (and very nearly succeeded) to sign Adrian Newey, which was a sign of them being serious about F1.

Bobby Rahal tried to sign Adrian Newey.

Ford board members probably didn't know who he was.

Purnell and Pitchforth were also doing quite a good job of running a F1 team, too.
