Is there anyone who can tell me what type carburetor you have to use in a Capri 3.0 MK1 GR2

Hi Lennart, Peter Mallett is a Capri man and am sure will give you guidance, but in meantime which Gp2 version are you referring to? In period there was RS2600 and RS3100- former with German 'Cologne' engine and latter with UK 'Essex' V6. Both were raced with fuel injection- not carbs- as far as I know.
If you want to run a Capri in Gp2 with carbs I guess it / they will have to be whatever the car was homologated with- so hopefully Peter will be able to give you that info, as I don't have the papers. |

I don't have my Homologation cert here but IIRC the Mk1 Group 2 cars only ever ran fuel injection.
Just to correct Mike B, there were three engines. The 2300 (2600), the 2600 (2900) both German twin cam Cologne V6 and the Essex based Cosworth GA 3100 (3400). The last one was quad cam. The group 1 carbs were either single 40DFI or 48IDA. These were homologated not for competiton but either for export (DFI), or high altitude (IDA). After 1976, when the regs changed the Mk2/3 Capri ran the triple carb X Pack set up and 3.1L Essex engine. |

I'm sure you are right about the works Capris fitted with Cologne engines using Injection. Nothing I have read suggests otherwise. Sounds like anyone wanting to comply with Gp2 rules of the day it would be either single carb or fuel injection then? |

I stand to be corrected on the pushrod thing. Simply because I'm working from memory. But certainly any I've seen are fuel injected.

In conclusion reckon Capri 3 litre (or RS3100) will have to run period Gp1 or standard downdraft Weber only as no special carbs homologated for Gp2? |
